Falling.
I like to believe
That my biggest
Downfall is that
i fall
In love
The way the tide rolls in
When the world
Begins to shuffle from its slumber.
Slowly,
In a sweet, sleepy motion,
That pulls you in
Like the tinge of fresh fruit
On your tongue upon first
Taste,
Sickly sweet, yet
Oddly comforting.
And
It has always started like that,
Slow and kind,
With the best of intentions,
Before
The earth begins to rumble
and angry ripples flutter across
The surface of the water
As i crash into the shore with
Such vigor
And aggression,
Toppling boats and engulfing docks and
Sky high cities
Leaving destruction in
Everything i touch
As the storm finally begins
In roars of thunder
And electric screeches of
Lightning dappling across the sky.
And then it stops.
And it always stops
When i see you.
I sit here,
Rocking side to side in my paper boat,
Watching as my damp edges
Fray as a result of the water
That drowns me in my love
For you.
The sky is crying,
And my skin is freezing cold,
But i set sail and wait for
A new day
In hopes that you will fall
In love with my frayed edges
And my fragile oragami heart
So that we can start anew
And yet i always wonder
Why i love so violently
For people
Who only love softly.
