He sat on my porch swing.
He looked at me,
Worry and disappointment,
Written in his eyes.
He walked up to me,
Grabbed my hand,
And intertwined it with his,
And ushered me to his car.

He started driving.
We said nothing.
I pulled my legs up to my stomach,
And winced at the attempt.
He pushed my legs down,
And patted it softly.

We arrived at a diner,
And you ushered me out,
You told me to sit,
At one of the booths,
And said, you will be back.

He walked off,
And my friend came,
Out of nowhere.
And sat opposite me.

The conversation,
I had been dreading.
Is finally here.

He came back,
With a sandwich,
In his hands.
