Chapter 14: Awakened

-Courtney-

When I awoke I was inside some sort of cave. And Neferet was standing over me with an evil smirk on her face. I felt so loyal to her, if it hadn't been for her I'd be dead. She was my hero. And I felt so hungry.

"Courtney. You have Awakened and become better. You will stay here for now and not leave. You will follow all orders I or Alura give you. You owe me, I brought you back to life. The others will bring you a human for your meal. And they'll help you understand what's changed about you." Said Neferet. I kneeled to her as I nodded. I knew deep in my heart I could trust her. I owed her everything.

"Yes Queen Tsi Sqili." I said respectfully. Neferet gasped and looked upon me. "What did you say?" She asks not sure she heard me right.
"I said, yes Queen Tsi Sqili." I repeated.
"Why did you say that name? And where did you learn it?" Asked Neferet her face lit with curiosity and desire to know the truth.

"Reyna is my sister. I'm from where she is. Where I came from..." I began to reply. But Neferet smacked me hard across the cheek.
"Her name is Alura now. And I know the story. She told me. Now I have shit to do. Stay here and obey the others." She said coldly. I nodded.
"Yes goddess." I said. Neferet smiled, she clearly loved being called that. She left the caves to be by herself. A girl named Venus came in holding a scared looking human girl for me.

The smell of her blood got to me, I lunged and bit into the human with my newly formed fangs. By the Angel it felt so good feeding on a human till it died. I had never felt so good or happy before.

Once the stupid human was dead I followed Venus though the caves to see the others. "I'm in charge right now." Said Venus. "You will listen Courtney. It's an honor to be one of us. We are better. Now come outside, it's night and we have hunting to do. Listen to everything I tell you." She said to me.

It was crazy enough that Nyx was mortal now, but when she revealed who Alura was. The words "Alura is Reyna" echoed through my head. No, this couldn't be true. The Reyna I knew would never betray me. First Neferet, and now my friend Reyna. Who was  next? Courtney? I shoved that thought aside. She'd never betray us. Not so many people I once trusted would betray me.

"How could Neferet ruin her like this? She was my friend, she hated Neferet!" I snapped. Tears came down my cheeks and Nyx had pulled me into comforting embrace. "Anyone can be redeemed regardless of what they have done." She assured. Except for Neferet, I thought.

"Other need to know the truth." I said thinking of Aphrodite and the rest of the nerd herd/ dark daughters. Recently Aphrodite had kicked everyone else out and allowed Reyna, Courtney, Alex, the twins, Damien, Erik, Stevie Rae and I to be the new members.

"I still have some abilities. I may be able to block their minds from Neferet. Your closest friends should know." Said Nyx,

I nodded and pulled out my phone and made a group chat. I was about to add Courtney when I saw a notification telling me Courtney rejected the change. So I didn't add her, my chest hurt from such a loss. She was my friend. Ah hell. I added everyone of the Dark Daughters except for the traitor Reyna.

'Emergency meeting in my room. NOW!' I texted. I waited for some replies.

'Ah fuck. I don't want to. I was watching true blood.' Texted Aphrodite.

'Aphrodite LaFont, get your ass here. It's important. Everyone needs to know what you and I know.

'OMG! Are you two in love?' Texted Erin.

'No, she love me.' Replied Erik.

I rolled my eyes and put my phone away in my pocket. It didn't take long for my friends to arrive. Nyx looked upon them and used her minimal powers to put a block on all their minds.

I explained everything I knew. Even about Nyx. And Alex was helpful, she filled in details I didn't even know about Neferet. It was Alex who pulled Nyx into a tight hug. "Mother." She said with deep concern.

Nyx smiled and embraced her daughter. Now that I was done explaining everything to my friends, I listened to them reply.

"What?" Said Erin, "the fuck?" Finished Shaunee.

"No!" Said Alex pulling away from Nyx. She was most horrified about the Reyna, Alura reveal I told them of last.
"She's my friend, we must help Reyna. I'm her Protector. I was sent here to be like a warrior but a different kind, one called a Protecter." Said Alex.
"Also Courtney isn't dead. Neferet will have brought her back..." added Alex. We all listened as Alex explained all about red vampyres.

Finally everyone looked upon Nyx. "I'll help you." They all said in unison. Nyx smiled st them and took turns hugging each of them. We were all starting to feel like a team of people who would make a difference.

I heard my phone ding and I looked upon my messages. I froze when I saw the message. It was from Reyna.

'Hey Zoey. How about you and I go out shopping? We can have a good time." She had texted me. I read the text aloud to my friends after telling them who texted me. Everyone in unison said,
"Fuck no!"
I texted Zoey back and said,

'Can't. I'm going on a date with Erik.'

Soon everyone had left to do their own things, I remained along in my room alone with Stevie Rae. Stevie Rae had tears in her eyes.

"Zoey, I'm in love with Courtney." She admitted. "I kissed her before her began rejecting the change."
