⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Here are some apps that I use that really help out with my writing. I'd recommend checking into all of them!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀DICTIONARY: Any dictionary app is great! The one that I personally use is the app version of dictionary.com. It's pretty self explanatory; you can use it to make sure that the word that you're using is correct, to look up synonyms for common words such as said, and to attempt type in words that you don't know how to spell because goddamnit how do you even fuck up so bad that autocorrect gives up on you. This shouldn't be a thing that happens. #StopAutocorrect2k16. (The last one happens to me a lot. I may be a writer, but I suck ass at spelling.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀FOREST: If you find yourself scrolling through Instagram and Twitter rather than typing your next best-selling novel (or fanfiction with 5 dedicated readers), I'd really recommend getting Forest. I'm pretty sure that it isn't free (I think it's like 99¢ or whatever), but it's SO worth it, especially if you're like me and are easily distracted. You can set little time periods, and if you leave the app, it kills the cute little tree that you were growing, forcing you to stay in it instead of aimlessly scrolling through social media. It also gives you little messages to keep you focused and motivated. You can even see your progress as your forests grow. (I also use this to help with studying and homework.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀WATTPAD: Um. Well. Duh.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀UPWORD: The Apple notes app is just so lame. You can hardly do anything with it. Upword is a notes app times twenty. It's like the Apple notes on crack. You can make folders and folders inside folders and folders inside folders inside folders. You can color code your shit. You can customize your font, color theme, and even the way that your app looks to suit all of your perfectionist needs. You can use it to jot down quick ideas, brainstorm, take note of names that you like, and even outline your plot or develop your characters. All while staying organized. It's great. I know that the lite version of the app is free, but I'd really recommend the pro version; it's totally worth it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀FATE MACHINE: This is mostly for my indecisive little self. If you ever can't decide on a character's name, death, or even a major plot point, you can use it to help you come to a decision without bothering your friends and/or family and/or spoiling them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀WE HEART IT: If you're ever bored with nothing to do, scroll through all of the pictures on We Heart It and make an album (or whatever they're called) of things that remind you of your characters, stories, or just cool edits that you think are totally badass. Whenever you're lacking inspiration or suffering writers block, you can look through your albums in an attempt to once again find your muse. Tumblr can also be used for this (you can make a tag to organize your stuff), but I personally like We Heart It better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀PANDORA: Like We Heart It, this is totally for inspiration. I always listen to music while I write, it helps to keep me focused and in the zone, and Pandora's the app that I use for music. But wait, there's more! I have Pandora radios filled with the music that my characters would all listen to. When I'm not able to instantly fall into the writing groove, it helps me out to close my eyes and listen to them. It might help you to get to know your characters more if you listen to their kinda music. (Even if it's country. Or screamo. Or worse, countreamo.)
