It was the day before the big concert at Everton. I was sitting on the roof of the school trying to calm down. I always seem to relax while looking at the scenery from the school roof. I thought back to the earlier weeks. After the incident with Shim, no one in the gang trusted me. Well, everyone except A.J and Twi. They saw that the rest of the gang didn't trust me and they asked why. I heard what they said and I felt myself break down.
Flashback...
A.J.: Why don't you guys trust him anymore?
Twi: Yeah. I don't get what's wrong.
R.D.: Oh we'll tell you why.
I heard the response and me, Twi, and A.J. all had the same conclusion.
R.D.: He and Sunset had an argument the other day and he had the audacity to say that he was regretting ever calling her a friend!
Twi: WHAT?
A.J.: Wait. Did Sunset do anything to Ken before he said that?
Flutter: Yes, but I don't like remembering it.
Rare: Sunset shoved him out of anger and he hit his head.
Twi: Oh no.
R.D.: What?
Twi: You don't know the full story.
R.D.: What? You're standing up for him? I don't care about what he has to say. Saying that to my buddy is unforgivable!
I ran away from the music room...
End of Flashback...
I let Aki help the others because I couldn't think straight. And as for Shim, she just ignores me. Whenever we see each other, I wave but she just turns and walks away. Eventually, when we saw each other, I just smile and walk away since it was clear that she didn't want me around. I took a deep breath and calmed down. I turned around to see Shim standing behind me. I guess I wasn't the only one who used the roof to calm down. She took a step back and I spoke up.
Me: No need to leave. I was about to head out anyway.
I stood up and walked past her. Once I reached the stairs, I said one other thing to her.
Me: The roof's all yours.
I left without saying another word.
I went home and went straight to bed. I was hoping that Kamino would come and chat but I didn't hear his voice all night...
The next day...
It was finally the day for Twi's surprise. Aki and I were about to be late again so we ran at top speed. I made it there first and held the door for Aki. I looked at my watch to see that we had 5 minutes left. Aki ran into the school.
Aki: Thanks Bro!
Me: No problem but we have to have to hurry!
I was about to head inside until I saw Shim. She seemed to be taking her time. Like she wasn't worried about being late. I figured I would wait for her. But that moment never came. The moment she passed the statue, she fainted.
Me: SHIM!
I ran to her and tried to wake her up.
Me: Shim! Shim what's wrong?!
I felt her forehead and immediately pulled my hand back.
Me: OW!
She had a high fever.
Me: Shim, you're burning up! You can't be at school in this condition!
The school bell rang and Principal Celestia walked outside.
Celestia: Ken? Sunset? You should be inside. Why are you out here?
Me: Principal Celestia, Shim's sick! I need to take her home!
Celestia: She's sick? She hardly ever gets sick. What happened?
Me: I don't...
I stopped myself and thought back to yesterday.
Flashback...
Me: The roof's all yours.
End of Flashback...
Me: Oh no don't tell me she was up there for so long...
Celestia: Go on and take her home. I'll let you off the hook today.
Me: Really? Thank you!
Celestia: Thank me later.
Me: Right!
I picked up Shim and put her on my back and started running. I ran all the way to her house not stopping or slowing down for anything. Once we arrived, I looked under her mat and grabbed her spare key and unlocked the door running into the house. I put Shim in her bed and ran into the kitchen, grabbed a bowl, filled it with cold water, grabbed a spare towel, and went back to her room.
Me: Alright. This stuff should help.
I placed the towel in the water, rang it out and placed the towel on Shim's forehead.
Me: There. Now I need some medicine.
I looked through the medicine cabinet but didn't find any cold medicine.
Me: Well, Principal Celestia did say that she hardly ever gets sick. I have to get some medicine but I can't just leave Shim here. There has to be something I can do to get both.
I closed my eyes and thought about how to get medicine and get back to Shim fast. I ended up seeing a bright light.
Me: What was--?
I opened my eyes to see that I was in a pharmacy.
Me: How did I get here? I was just at Shim's place.
I didn't worry about it too much. I hurried and grabbed the best cold medicine they had. After that, I wondered how to get back and saw another bright light. I looked around to see that I was back where I started. I looked to see that I still had the medicine so it wasn't a daydream.
Me: I can teleport now? Since when? Whatever. I need to help Shim.
I brought the medicine and had her take some. Afterwards, she slowly opened her eyes. She tried to talk but I stopped her.
Me: Try not to talk. You should rest. Luckily, I found some medicine that will make you feel better before the end of the day. But, it won't be fast enough to let you perform. Sorry, I tried my hardest to find something better.
After I said that, she went back to sleep. I left the room and felt guilty.
Me: It's my fault that she's like this. The one time I was somewhere I wasn't needed and my 1st friend at CHS is in bad shape.
I snapped out of it after hearing a knock. I looked to see the others and opened the door.
Me: Hey guys.
Twi and A.J. responded but the others didn't.
Twi: Hi Ken.
A.J.: Hey Ken. How's Sunset?
Me: Why don't you come inside? I'll tell you the details...
