Bucky: A classic man

Chapter 6

The next day you woke up and started packing for the "mandatory" trip your father had planned with the senator last night. Luckily you were bringing Bucky, Natasha, and Steve along as well so you wouldn't feel too uncomfortable. Plus you got to spend time with Steve on his birthday. You finished putting every thing you needed and Steve's present in your duffle and you grabbed your purse and headed downstairs. When you got downstairs Bucky and Steve were waiting and Natasha was still upstairs packing. "Hey (y/n)!" Bucky said enthusiastically and stood up. "Good morning, so fun party last night!? Right (y/n)?!" Steve said teasingly. "Good morning boys" you said and chuckled at their weird greetings this morning. "So are you ready for this weekend?" You said trying to fill the awkward silence. "Yeah, I mean the senator and his annoying son are gonna be there. So I don't really know how that's gonna go. He was so rude last night! Wasn't he Steve!? Ugh, I wish that men knew how to treat a lay now a days! Right Steve!? I just pity the poor girl that ends up with him!" Bucky rambled passionately. You were surprised by how much Bucky hated Dylan and the senator, but you couldn't entirely disagree! "Oh defiantly buck! I'm proud to say my best friend has respect for women! Any girl would be lucky to have you Bucky!" Steve piped in. They sounded like a commercial, you couldn't help but giggle. "What do you think (y/n)?" Steve asked and winked. You were a little surprised at the wink but you answered "yeah, Dylan isn't a minority though, which is why guys like Bucky are appreciated so much!". Bucky smiled brightly and pulled you into the biggest hug you've ever been given. "That's mighty sweet of you to say doll!" Bucky said. And you could've sworn he was smelling your hair, but you were too distracted by the chest your face was being pressed against. You remember being able to reach his shoulder last night, but then you remembered that you were wearing heels last night and you were wearing converse today. Your thoughts were interrupted by none other than your dad. He waltzed in and took one look at you and Bucky before bringing up Dylan again, and how excited he was to go on this trip and how much fun it's going to be for the families to get to know each other. You gagged a little. Bucky was obviously uncomfortable when he let go of you and walked over to Steve. Luckily yeh moment was over when Natasha walked in all packed and ready to go. Everyone got in the car and you started on a long car ride to the lake.

A few hours in you all stopped to get lunch. You walked into this dinner and you were all seated at a big booth. You ended up squished between Steve and Bucky, which you didn't really mind cause you were kinda chilly. You couldn't decide what to get but the waitress said that the burgers were pretty big, so and you asked if anyone wanted to share a burger and a shake with you and Bucky quickly volunteered. After lunch it was back on the road. You started to get pretty tired from such a long day so you decided to take a nap. You tried leaning your head on the window, but there were too many bumps in the road. Bucky saw that you were having a difficult time so he pulled your head on to his shoulder and said "you can rest your head on my shoulder whenever you need to".

You arrived at the lake house around dinner time. You had woken up about an hour ago and everyone was having a car sing-a-long to every cheesy 90's or early 2000's song you could think of. The driver turned down the music and pulled in the driveway. You saw the senator his wife and Dylan all walk out the front door to greet you. One of the senator's men rushed out the door to help you out and grab your bags. You followed the senator into his house and the man helped you get settled in your rooms. Once everyone got changed and cleaned up you went down for dinner.

The next few days were pretty much the same routine of going out on a boat or swimming or watching fireworks. You didn't mind it, you enjoyed the time you were getting to down with your friends. But you knew something was off when Dylan wouldn't acknowledge you for 2 days now. You defiantly didn't mind being ignored by him. But it wasn't like him and you knew something was wrong. So being the kind person you are, you decided to check on him. You peeked in his room and he wasn't there, so you went downstairs and saw him out the window in the backyard. You walked out there and took a seat next to him. "Hey Dylan" you said. "Hey (y/n)" he responded in a dead tone. "So why have you been ignoring me?" you jumped right in. "What!?" He said alarmed by your question. "Well you've been particularly quiet around me and that isn't your norm." You continued. He stood up angrily his demeanor changing "well you wanna know why I haven't been the happiest of people!? It's cause I just wanted to spend a nice weekend with you! And I thought you'd wanna spend it with me! I thought we had a thing going! I thought that WE were gonna end up together! But now all o see is you and that freak with the metal arm! What makes him so great?! Why is he so special?!"
