I laid in bed next to Rebekah, running my fingers through her long blonde hair. She purred in her sleep, nuzzeling closer to me. She had told me that she was leaving to go after Klaus but I had to stay. I didn't quite understand why I couldn't go with her. She stirred and opened her eyes peering up at me.
"Don't stare." she demanded with a sly smile on her face. "Last night was amazing." she cooed, running her fingers along my bare chest.
"Thank you." I smiled, her face dropped and she scooted away from me.
"Your cockiness will be the death of you." She threw her robe over her naked body and stood. "I must leave you now." She walked into the bathroom and returned soon after fully clothed with a bag hanging off her shoulder. She tilted her head and smiled at me. "Don't look so sad." she commented. In all actuality I wasn't sad, just constantly confused. And it honestly irritated the hell out of me.
"Can I ask you something?" I propped myself onto my elbow looking up at her.
"What? Make it quick." she commented sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Who was that girl the other night at the Grill?" Ever since I saw this girl, who apparently knows me, I couldn't get her out of my head. Something about her clung to every nerve in my body and her eyes were embedded into mine. I had to know who this girl was.
"I wouldn't worry about that." she replied, patting my leg under the blanket. "Go back to sleep." She stood up and took one last look at me before walking out the door. I sighed and fell back against the pillows. Despite not being able to get this mysterious girls face out of my mind I let sleep over take me.

"First we need to find Stefan. He will know what's going on with Damon." I stated. I brushed my comb through my hair as Caroline laid across my bed. "When is Tyler coming over?" She shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't think he is. I haven't heard from him since last night." she replied, looking at her phone for the millionth time that morning.
"Maybe he's still asleep." I assured her. She rolled her eyes at me. "It's possible."
"Anyway." she began. "So we find Stefan. Do you think he'll even help us out?"
It was my turn to shrug. "Probably not, but it's worth a try." I laid my brush down on my vanity and admired the pictures stuck to the mirror. My parents faces beamed back at me. What would they think of all the things that have happened to me since their death. I felt Carolines hand on my shoulder.
"Let's go find him. Maybe try his cell phone first?" I chuckled at that simple thought and grabbed my phone from out of my bag. I scrolled down to his name and hesitated as I pressed the call button. I held it to my ear and was extremely surprised when I heard his hello through the ear piece.
"Stefan. I need to talk to you." There was a long pause before he answered.
"Why?" he muttered.
"I need to know what is going on with Damon." He chuckled into the phone.
"There's nothing you can do. Move on, Elena. From both of us." then the line went dead. I looked up at Caroline and shook my head.
"He said to move on." I shoved my phone back into my bag. "That's unlikely to happen."
"Well, we now know he knows whats going on." she added.
I stood and pulled my jacket on and grabbed my bag. "Let's go." I walked through the adjoining bathroom into Jeremy's room. He wasn't in it and his bed was still made. I looked at Caroline.
"Where is Jeremy?" she asked. I looked around his room and in his closet.
"His bag is gone." I stated. "He left."

"Tyler, you need to call me back!" Caroline slammed the phone closed once again. We had grabbed a quick bite to eat at the Grill and decided to start scoping out vacant and abandoned houses around the outskirts of town. Considering that is the usual places vampires inhabit when they swing through town it sounded like the logically avenue to take.
Thankfully with Carolines amazing speed and senses it didn't take long for her to pick up on a trail.
"I sense Stefan." she informed me. We had been at this for hours and my feet were killing me, so when she said that it gave me a new sense of energy and I charged forward. She narrowed it down to a street a few blocks in front of us. When we reached the street it only had one house on it and it was at the very end. It was a gorgeous old style victorian house. A part of me was not ready to face what was ahead but having Caroline with me gave the strength to press on.
"Do you sense Damon." I looked at her hopefully. She nodded and pulled me along the street.
As we neared the front of the house my heart started beating faster and faster. The next thing I knew Stefan was in our faces pushing us back. Caroline fought back but he was stronger and pushed her to the ground.
"Stay there." He pointed at her, she obliged. He held my shoulders hard.
"Go home." he sternly said. His breath hot on my face. I shook my head. "Leave." His voice vibrated through my body.
"Stefan." A soothing and familiar voice broke through the tension. I looked behind Stefan and there stood Damon on the front porch of the house. When Damon saw my face he quickly jumped off the porch and grabbed Stefans hands off of me. "What are you doing?" Stefan threw his arms up and took a few steps back.
"Damon." I muttered. He looked at me and Caroline, helping her up off the ground.
"How do you know me?" he asked, his face shrouded in confusion. I walked up to him but he took a step back.
"You really don't know who I am?" He shook his head and looked over at Stefan.
"Do you know her?" Stefan nodded his head but chose to walk away. Damon looked back at me and shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm sorry, I have no idea who you are." he turned to follow Stefan.
"Damon wait." I took off after him, Caroline close on my heels. I caught up to him at the front door where he turned to face me.
"What do you want from me? Do you know what I am?" he sneered, obviously done with this game.
I cupped his face in my hands. And what happened next I would have never guessed I would be doing. My heart skipped a beat when I gazed into his eyes, and every ounce of me missed his smile and his quirkly antics. Missed the obvious love and adortion he had for me. You know the saying where you don't know what you have till it's gone. I could be the spokesperson for that slogan. I took for granted everything he has ever done for me. Not saying that Damon is perfect, we all have our flaws but not matter what has happened he has always stood by my side and fell in love with me. How could I have let that slip through my fingers. In a blink of an eye our lips met and I pressed deeper and deeper into the kiss. I heard a gasp from behind me, most likely from Caroline. I pulled away and waited for his response. His fingers brushed strands of hair from my face.
"Elena."
