THOMAS/STILES POV

I run down the hall, now hearing the pursuit of Scott and everyone else. I tune it out, instead focusing on the passing doors and hallways, searching for the storage room that holds the Flat Trans. I don't see any signs for the room.

Finally, I turn down another hallway and spot the door. Breathing a sigh of relief, I rush to it and open the door. I look back to see Scott stopping.

"Thomas, where are you going?" He asks. Everyone behind him is out of breath, yet I'm perfectly fine. I wonder why.

"Brenda, Minho," I say. "I need to get them. I can't leave them here if we're breaking out." Once he nods, I make my way into the room, saying over my shoulder, "Stay here."

I walk to the bare wall of the storage room, and stop when I realize something. Janson used a button on his control panel to open the Flat Trans. I mentally curse myself.

I decide to look for a hidden switch; maybe there is a plan B for opening the Trans. I rifle through boxes, looking along the walls and the ground. Finally, I come face to face with a poster of Ava Paige. Anger finds a place in my mind, but I push it away when I notice something. There's a lump under the right corner of the poster, directly beside where the Flat Trans should be. Hope stirs in my heart.

I quickly rip apart the poster, trying to reveal what's behind it. Finally, I get the bottom corners peeled back, and I see a small blue button where I saw the lump. I loose a breath, and press the button.

Almost immediately, a large black portal opens up on the bare wall. The Flat Trans. I mentally fist-bump myself, and step through.

As soon as I open up on the other side, I yell, "Brenda! Minho!" I see their faces appear among the others, and run to them.

"Thomas?" Minho questions, but Brenda wastes no time running into my arms. I hug her tight, and something tingles in me; like I feel something for her. I'm not sure what to make of it. I quickly pull away, and Minho and I share a quick hug as well. Then, I get right to business.

"I had escaped back to my hometown, but WICKED found me and brought me back. My friends came to save me, but I couldn't leave you guys behind." I look between the two of them, trying to read their expressions.

Minho speaks first. "Well, we appreciate it, Shuck Face, but how do we know you haven't been brainwashed by those shanks?"

Brenda shakes her head. "No. I believe him." We share a look, and I see something in her eyes I can't read, but know to trust.

"Please, Min," I say, the nickname rolling off my tongue easily. "We have to go. Unless you never want to see me again. Because I'm not coming back."

He ponders this, looking between Brenda and I. Finally, he nods, but says, "I'll go, but if you're shucking with me, I'll bash your face in."

I smile. "Great. Come on, let's go."

***

We walk back out into the hallway, and everyone turns around. Scott wears a look of confusion, but takes in Brenda and Minho with curiosity. Brenda smiles, but stays at my side.

Minho, however, says, "Hey, Tom, These are your shuck friends?"

I roll my eyes and stifle a laugh when everyone looks outraged at his words. I guess they don't understand Minho's slang. "Uh, yeah, Min." I quickly introduce everyone, and they greet the new arrivals.

"Uh, guys," Lydia says. "Sorry to cut this greeting short, but if we want to leave, we better do it fast." I furrow my brows, but then a voice comes over the intercom.
