Chapter 7: Ellie

For the second time that morning, I awoke in a room that was not my own. I was back in his bedroom, wearing his clothes and I was more confused than ever.

Why would my own Dad want me dead?

Climbing out of his bed, I heard voices resounding from the kitchen and was curious to see if someone had come to save me from this strange nightmare.

When I stepped through the doorway my eyes were presented with the view of a boy who looked to be a few years younger than myself. He had shaggy red hair that complimented his piercing blue eyes and a goofy smile that tugged at my heartstrings. He had a small frame that looked odd in comparison to the knowledge that was buried deep in his eyes.

We were both studying each other.

"Dude," he said to Jamie with a grin on his face. He elongated the word so that it sounded more like 'duuuuude'.

"Another one already?" his tone was mocking and my mouth dropped at his words.

"We didn't sleep together!" I blurted, suddenly realising how bad the situation must've looked; I was still wearing nothing but his tee shirt and had just walked out of his bedroom.

Jamie just stood there, smirking at the both of us, and I really felt like punching him in the face again.

"Sorry." The red haired boy looked sheepish. "He has girls around a lot." That earned him a thwack over the head.

After glaring at Jamie, he stuck his hand out. "I'm Felix," he said, and I slipped my hand into his.

"Ellie," I responded, curious about the relationship between the two. From what I could tell, they shared no resemblance what-so-ever, so I doubted that they held any blood relation.

"She's an assignment," Jamie added to our conversation.

"Ohhh, is he trying to kill you too?" the red haired boy asked me.

My brow furrowed. "What?" I said.

"Don't worry, he'll get over it eventually," he said with a smile.

"Felix, we're a little low on bread. Do you mind going to the corner shop?" Jamie cut in, pulling his wallet out from his back pocket and handing Felix some money.

"Sure D-, I mean Jay," he replied with a gulp, looking between me and Jamie warily.

Once Felix had left the apartment, I turned to face my killer.

"Your name isn't really Jamie, is it?" I said, as more of a statement than a question.

"It is as far as you're concerned," was his response; it was paired with a smirk.

"So what's his story?" I asked, jerking my head towards the now closed door that Felix had disappeared out of.

"I told you that I only kill people if they warrant it, and Felix didn't deserve it. He was 15-years-old and stupid, he got involved with the wrong crowd of people and they wanted him to sell some cannabis to prove his allegiance to the group," he explained, pausing to make sure that I was following.

He then went on.

"When he refused to sell them and presented them with no money, they decided to give me a call because they were too chicken to kill him themselves. When I researched into why they wanted Felix dead, I realised that he was just a kid who wanted to be 'cool'. He didn't need to die. So I kidnapped him and changed his identity. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, he's dead."
