{1985}

"Do you think we will be friends, let's say 10 years from now?" Juliette whispered to her best friend as they laid in the bed of her dad's pickup truck that he let her borrow for the night.

Duff rolled into his side and propped himself up on his elbow. "I would hope so." He said looking into her eyes.

"I mean with you moving to LA it's going to be weird not seeing your face everyday." Juliette said honestly.

It was only recently that Duff McKagan decided to leave everything he was used to for the past 20 years and move to somewhere where he didn't know anyone with nothing. With the dreams of joining a band that would sell out stadiums across the world. His dreams seemed almost comical whenever he would playing drums or guitar or even bass which he recently learned to 12 people in some run down basement in Seattle.

As nerve racking as it was Duff has his eyes set on something that couldn't be found in Seattle.

Whereas Juliette Wright too had dreams of her own.

She had dreams of becoming a lawyer. She was recently accepted into The University of Washington. She could hardly hide her excitement as she made her way to Duff's house the morning she received her acceptance letter. That was the same day Duff broke the news to his best friend that he was moving.

Duff sat up and started to say something but Juliette cut him off, sitting up as well.

"I am also going to miss teasing you about your hideous blue hair." she laughed reaching for one of the short strand of faded blue hair . "Leave my hair alone." Duff laughed grabbing her wrist, pulling her close so that their noses were touching.

Something about the closeness of this situation created a awkward silence, they just stared at each other.

Duff's eyes trailed down to her lips and then back up to her eyes.

Leaning forward ever so slightly, Duff licked his lips quickly.

Just do it McKagan.

Juliette coughed awkwardly and pulled away. Standing up and straightening out her clothes.

"I think I better get going, you should too. You probably have some last minute packing to do. God knows you wait until the last minute to do anything." She rambled.

Duff mentally kicked himself for not acting quick enough.

He sat up and stretched.

"You are right, but will I see you before I leave tomorrow?" He said pulling her into a hug, holding her for just a second longer.

"Of course." She said smiling looking up at him. He let go of her and shoved his hands into his pockets and started on his journey back home.

Pulling a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it, he inhaled the smoke and tilted his head up and blew out the smoke silently thinking to himself.

If only, I had the guts to feel this way.
