No Matter the Distance

The Present

Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes as I watched Michael pack his suit case. My boyfriend, my best friend, the only person I could tell everything to, was leaving for months. His band, 5 Seconds of Summer, have become more famous than ever. They were offered a deal to go on tour with the infamous One Direction. The band couldn't refuse a deal that big, so they agreed to go on a world tour with One Direction for 10 months.

I could already tell those 10 months would be the worst 10 months of my life. I could barely stand to be away from Michael for 1 day, I don't know how I could handle 10 months.

"Rose, it's gonna be okay." Michael says to me as he throws a pair of jeans in his suit case.

"Is it really that noticable?" I say laughing a little while a single tear runs down my cheek. Michael sits down next to me on his bed and wipes the tear off my cheek with his thumb. He grabs a hold of my hand it looks me in the eyes.

"It's only for 10 months. Time will fly I promise. I'll call you every day and Skype you as much as I can. No matter the distance, I will never stop loving you." He says to me, never taking his eyes off of mine. I smile and wrap my arms around his neck tightly. I feel his arms wrap around my waist and he kisses the side of my head.

"I love you so much Michael Gordon Clifford." I saw squeezing him harding, fighting the tears that were threatening to fall.

"Rose, you know I hate my middle name." Michael says, letting go of me and looking down at the ground.

"I know" I say with a sly smile, looking directly at his face. He glares at me, but then tackles me onto his bed

"Say it again Rosaline, say it again, I dare you!" Michael yells as we tackle eachother, causing me to uncontrollably laugh.

"Call me Rosaline one more time Gordon, I dare you!" I say laughing as he pins me down onto the bed with my arms on either side of my head. Both Michael and I are breathing heavily and smiling uncontrollably.

"I won't call you Rosaline anymore if you never say my middle name again, deal?"

"Deal." I say, Michael leans down and kisses me to seal our deal.

"I love you Rose" Michael says as soon as he takes his lips off of mine.

"I love you too Michael." I say as I wrap my hands around his neck and pull him down on top of me.

"Please don't leave me." I say into his neck.

When I say that, Michael lets out a small laugh.

"I have to." He says as he sits up right. As he stands to continuing packing, I prop myself up onto my elbows.

"Michael?" I say as he throws a couple pairs of boxers into his suit case.

"Yes love?" He says as he continues to pack.

"Can I keep one of your shirts while you're gone to remember you by? Or you can give me sweat pants or socks. I don't really care I just want something to remind me of you." I say, slightly embaressed. Michael raises an eyebrow and chuckles.

"Why, are you going to forget about me unless I give you a shirt?"

"No! Never! I just want something to wear of yours while you're gone." I say as I sit up and play with my fingers.

"Of course. Here, you can have my Pokemon shirt." He says, pulling it out of his bag and throwing it in my direction.

"But, this is your favorite shirt." I say holding it up in front of my face.

"I know. My favorite shirt for my favorite girl" I pull the shirt down and look at him smiling at me. I feel tears begin to fill my eyes.

I'm going to miss him so much.

Michael runs over to me and holds me.

"It's going to-" Before Michael is able to finish his sentence, the doorbell rings. Before Michael gets up, he kisses my cheek. I hear him run downstairs and open the door.

"Mike!"

"Are you ready for the best 10 months of your life!"

"Holy shit we're going on tour!"

"We have fans!"

"I'm so excited!"

I hear all the boys screaming down stairs and jumping. I try to stop myself from crying and wipe my tears away. I fill up Mike's suit case with some more clothes and zip it closed. Before I head downstairs, I put Michael's Pokemon shirt over my top.

I can still here the boys yelling with excitement as I bring the suit case out of his room and down stairs.

"Here are you things, Mikey." I say handing him his bag and sniffling. As soon as the boys see me, they stop.

"Awe Rose." Calum says as he comes over and hugs me tightly.

"Rose!" I hear the other boys yell and I feel them all tackle me to the ground. I begin to laugh uncontrollably.

"It's alright guys! I'll be okay I swear!" I say through breathes of air. They all stand up and help me up onto my feet.

"We are going to miss you so much." Ashton says to me.

"I'll miss you guys more than anything else in the world." I say bringing them all into a group hug. As soon as we all let go, the boys sprint out side the door and to the tour bus.

"Isn't it amazing!?" Ashton yells once we all get outside.

"Yeah, it's fantastic." Michael says standing next to me.

"We will give you guys some time alone." Calum says to Michael and me. Before they head onto the bus they hug me and say their good byes.

As soon as they get onto the bus I turn and hug Michael as tight as possible. As soon as he hugs me back I break down, tears streaming down my face onto his shirt.

"I'm going to miss you so much." I say into his shoulder.

"I'm going to miss you too." He says, caressing my head.

"I love you so much and I don't want you too forget that. No matter how far away you are from me I will never stop loving you and I will always be thinkg of you." I say, trying so hard to stop crying.

"I love you to the moon and back, Rose. Remember what I said, no matter the distance, I will never stop loving you."

We let go and he kisses me. He kisses me so passionately, goosebumps cover my whole body.

"Goodbye Rose. I love you." Michael says to me one last name.

"I love you too. Goodbye my love." Michael kisses me one more time, picks up his suit case, and heads towards the bus.

I cross my arms over my chest as I watch him walk away and onto the bus. Tears stream down my face and I start to shiver from the cold November air.

"Bye Rose!" All the boys yell outside their windows, waving. I crack a smile and wave back.

As the bus drives away, the tears continue to fall. I just watched my boy friend and my whole entire world, disappear.
