Clarity (James KirkxOC Oneshot!)

Pairing: James x Aria(OC)

Set Date: StarDate 2259.55 or February 24th, 2259 (Into Darkness. Spoilers!)

Prompt: James and Aria have been fighting more and more, when finally they gave up on another, but can Aria and James stay away long enough to get over one another?

♪ high dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life

fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time. ♪

"That’s it James!" a voice shouts from a room on the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-C) "I can’t take it anymore! You don’t listen to reason and I don’t even know why I’m even here!"

"Then leave!"

Aria was taken back, but glared none-the-less. “Fine, I don’t care anymore, we’re through James… Good-bye. I’m asking Pike to put me somewhere else. On someone else’s command ‘cause you don’t know how to handle fear or follow rules!”

James was shocked, Aria turns a heel and leaves. The silence was only filled with Aria’s heels clicking against the ground as she left him behind.

♪ hold still right before we crash ‘cause we both know how this ends

a clock ticks ‘til it breaks your glass and i drown in you again ♪

It been almost half a year since that fight, and Aria had been working for Admiral Pike getting stuff done, transferring files when needed and everything. When she heard a familiar voice, Aria stopped what she was doing. Aria turns her head seeing James and Spock walking to Admiral Pike’s office.

Taking a deep breath, Aria ignores and continues doing her thing. James watches her, as Spock looks at her wondering what she was doing. But that didn’t stop her from doing her work.

♪ 'cause you are the piece of me, i wish i didn't need

chasing relentlessly, still fighting and i don’t know why ♪

Standing behind Pike as they were discussing what to do with John Harrison. Something about him didn’t sit right with Aria but she decided to ignore it. Aria decided to ignore what James was saying to Pike, but when it was noticed, she listened closely.

"Why the archive?" questioned James, "all the information is public records." Aria was listening closely to what he was saying. "If he really wanted to damage Starfleet… this could be just the beginning…"

"Beginning of what, Mr. Kirk?" asked Admiral Marcus looking curiously at James.

"Sir, in the event attack protocol, all mandates." James responded. "In Senior Command all Captains and First Officers, aside from Aria, in Starfleet HQ right here…" James paused and Aria stared at him in question then she felt off…

Oh my god…

"In this room…" James finished

As soon as Aria turns James yells out; “Clear the room!" Aria screams in pain as she is shot in the left side and she falls to the ground in pain, looking down seeing maybe three inches of skin missing, adrenaline shot through her veins and she started crawling towards someone. Ignoring the searing pain in her side as she touches it only feeling the under-skin.

James touches her, Aria stares at him. Amends wanted to come out, say sorry about everything. But, nothing came out because everything needed to be done first.

♪ if our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?

if our love’s insanity, why are you my Clarity? ♪

James shoves her under the other side of the table on her good side, as she stares in shock as shots continue rounding and murdering everyone it’s in path. Every breath that Aria took, every Admiral died. Every first officer was murdered. Why would someone do this?

Aria saw James shoot up and run somewhere, Aria’s voice couldn’t be heard in the blasts.

“J-James!" Aria tried yelling out as she saw him run. And then she turns her head just to see Pike trying to crawl away from the shots. Spock was watching him too and then, Pike was shot. Aria’s world stopped. "Da-daddy!”

Spock saw this and rushed to his aide. Pulling him into safety and Aria got up avoiding being shot and rushed to Pike’s side.

♪ walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends

it cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense ♪

"Daddy…" Aria begins to cry. Tears fill her vision as she puts her hands on her knees and head down as tears escape her eyes. She didn’t even notice the battle ended. "Now who’s going to be with Chasity when I’m gone and keep her here, safe from all this evil now…?"

Yes, Chasity, her baby girl, the daughter she -accidentally conceived- with James Kirk. Her grandpa was gone now, who would watch her now?

Sadly sighing, she begin crying. James touched her shoulder gently, consoling her. Finally looking at him. She regretted it, everything that had happened before and after the fight came back to her.

What could she do now?

♪ don’t speak as i try to leave ‘cause we both know what we’ll choose

if you pull then i’ll push too deep and i’ll fall right back to you ♪

She got up and walked away, ignoring the pain in her left side, she could bare to hear what James had to say.

Admiral Marcus had put her back to Lt. Commander under James on the USS Enterprise, relentlessly, she had to follow the rules, she couldn’t break the rule and she was sitting in her chair, looking outside.

A hand touched hers, snapping her head to her hand, she saw a familiar hand, blinking as she looks up she sees James with a sad look on his face.

How can she stay mad at the past? Aria thought it was about time to forgive him

That’s what Pike said in the first place before he died.

Aria didn’t have a chance to tell him that she would take that advice, he died before she could say anything. Pike was in too much pain to talk too, all she could do was sit there… Watching him die, it should’ve been her! Aria’s eyes filled with tears once more and James pats her hand, letting her know he would be avenged and he will catch this man, vowing he would not fail.

And that’s all Aria could ask for.
