Long or short?

I know that I can get bored when there is superrrrrrrrr looooonnngggg chapters. But then get annoyed when the chapters are way too short! So how can you get both? Well is your book something you thought of, while in the middle of the night? Or have you been planning this book for 10 months? Will there be another book or is this a cute story for the shits and giggle. It all depends you and your book. 1000 words is a good amount of words to have in a small chapter book. And 3000 is good for a novel. That's going to be a "midnight book"! If you know what I mean :)
