"Unrequited love is a ridiculous state, and it makes those in it behave ridiculously." —William Herondale

I've gotta pretend,
When I walk in that door.
That I don't love you anymore.

Play the part, play that role.
That girl you used to know.
The one who you don't talk to anymore.
The door closing like windows when it's cold.
And suddenly I am left all alone.

Hiding behind eyeliner, that I smudge on my eyes.
I still play all those mind games, I tried to leave behind.
I act so bulletproof, but when she ignores me I die.
I act like I don't give a damn, when it tears me up inside.

But if you've ever been in love,
Then you'll know just what it's like.
Though unrequited and ridiculous,
This love makes me feel alive.
