Collette's POV

That morning I woke up at six am.
Why? Because I had to be at work at eight.. Yep, not my idea.
After I took a shower, got dressed and put some make-up on I went to the kitchen to have breakfast.
While I toasted two breads I noticed that there was a note on the table.
It was from Nana, this time in english:

Goodmorning my butterfly!

Ofcourse you are in a rush when you read this, but I just wanted you to know that we all hope you have a wonderful first workday today and that you can give us a call when you need us, okay?

Loves, Nana and the others.

I smiled and looked on the back of the note where everyone had wrote their mobile number for me.
While I put the note in my pocket, the smell of almost burnt toast filled the kitchen. I quickly pulled them out of the toaster and ate them with some butter and jam along with a glass of milk.
It was almost seven o'clock when I finished having breakfast, so I went into the hall, checked how I looked in the mirror, put on my black heels and leather jacket and just when I wanted to walk out of the door, I heard my name..
I turned around, it was Manuel.
"Are you going outside dressed like this?" he asked looking at me from head to toe.
"Uhm yes, why?" I frowned.
He sighed and shook his head, "I'll get dressed and bring you to work, without discussion!".
"What?! Then I'll be late!".
"No you won't be, you will when you go to work with the subway looking like this, trust me!".
"Why? What's wrong with this outfit?" I asked and walked back to the mirror to give myself another look.
No answer..
"What's going on? Why is everybody shouting?" Trish yawned when he came out of his room.
"I'm sorry Trish, did we wake you?" I asked when I turned towards him.
Again no answer, he just stood there looking at me with a grin.
"What?" I frowned.
He shook his head and came to me.
"You look nice, belle" he mumbled as he walked by me and ran his hand over my ass.
"Trish!! What the hell!" I shouted and wanted to slap him, but he already had fled to the kitchen.
I suddenly understood why Manuel wanted to bring me to work and sighed.
"Are you ready?" Manuel asked when he came out of his room. I nodded.
Shortly after that, Manuel and I were in the mini van heading to my work.
While we drove, I looked out of the window.
I was surprised when I saw that we left the city area and went more towards rural area..
When we entered an old-fashioned village, looking like a ghost town, my hope for a normal work environment faded away.
"Are you sure it's here?" I asked, but needed no answer when a huge white, almost church like building popped up in front of us.
"I'm pretty sure" Manuel said.
The building was placed on a piece of land surrounded by a fence with barbed wire and guard posts.
There was only one entrance, which was heavy secured by guards.
We had to indentify ourselves and tell the guards where we came for.
After I had explained that I was a psychologist who was going to work here, it was confirmed by the voice in the guard's earpiece and the next moment we were allowed to go in.
As we drove towards the white building, I saw other patients walk in the huge garden around the asylum.
They all wore white and had a nurse or a caregiver with them.
"Well, at least they got a nice garden.." Manuel mumbled.
I smiled and thought, I've seen worse than this, this is not to bad, right?..
The driveway ended in a parking space in front of the building where a bunch of expensive cars were parked.
Manuel stopped at the entrance of the building and gave me a hug before I stepped out of the car.
"I'll pick you up again, just text me and I will come, okay?" he said.
I nodded, "I will, thanks for the ride, I'll see you tonight!".
He waved me goodbye when he drove away, I waved back at him and waited until he was gone.
I then turned around, took a deep breath and entered the huge white building named:
"Le chemin vers Dieu".
It meant "The way to god".
As I walked into the lobby, I got overwhelmed by the beauty of the building..
Everywhere you looked you saw marble, columns, statues of angels and in the middle of the lobby even was a fountain. I walked over to it, looked in the water and saw giant fishes.
"Look at you! You're all so big!" I whispered in amazement.
"Miss Collins?" a voice suddenly spoke from behind me.
I quickly stepped away from the fountain and turned around.
"Yes, that's me" I answered to a woman looking like my new boss.
She smiled and reached out for my hand to shake it, "I'm Jo, your boss, welcome to Le chemin vers Dieu, today will be your first workday here, but how about a tour through the building first?".
"That sounds great!".
She seemed to be happy about my enthusiasm and walked into the first hallway, "We'll start here".
Jo told me everything I should know about the place, from the basement where they kept the files of the patients, to the attic where they kept articles of deceased ones.
In between were the cells of the patients and the work spaces for employees. Like me.
She also told me a bit about the history of the building, which contained many horrible events and deaths.
We eventually ended the tour at my office, here I put down my stuff and then followed Jo to the cells.
"I think you might have heard about Les Twins.." Jo asked when we entered the second floor.
"Yeah, quite a lot" I answered while she entered a code to unlock the door, who led to a hallway with cells on both sides.
"You will now meet them, so that they know you're here" Jo continued as we walked down the hallway towards the end.
"Oh? I-Isn't that a bit fast?" I stuttered and became nervous.
She stopped and turned around.
"Miss Collins, we have called you because we thought, based on your results, that you could handle this case.. were we wrong about this?".
She looked me into the eyes and waited for an answer.
"No, I will not disappoint you", I answered coldly.
"Good, because when we get the feeling that you can't do this, we are forced to get you off the case" she said when we were walking again.
I know I know! Please just shut up! Does she really think I don't know what i'm doing? Ugh, I hate my boss already!
The anger inside me made me less nervous, so when we got to the cell of the Bourgeois Twins, I kinda forgot that when I stepped inside the room, I was in the same space as the two most notorious lunatics of France..
"Well hello Miss Collins, my brother and I have been waiting for you..".

And now the story begins. 👀
