RUN

I was in, as most would call it, an unfortunate situation. I did not know this strange man and had no reason to believe he harbored any resentment towards me or my family. I certainly had no reason to believe he hated my parents enough to kidnap them.

Slowly, I walked away from the strange man and scanned the room looking for a weapon. My eyes landed on a shabby broom with a handle that was barely holding on. I swung my hand hoping to catch the broom before the strange man caught me, but all my efforts were in vain.

In a speed that would be called supernatural, the strange man dropped my parents and bolted towards me. Before I could regain my senses, I was against my living room wall and in between the hands of my parent's kidnapper.

"Please, let me go" I cried out. I kicked my feet in a feeble attempt to free myself. The strange man chuckled. "You're only hurting yourself Joaddan." I stopped struggling and felt fear grip me like an iron tight vice.

How did he know my name?

"I haven't done anything" I slowly exhaled and tried to calm my rapidly beating heart, "Just let us go"

"Ah-ah, no can do" the strange man said as a bone-chilling smile spread evenly across his face.

I wasn't going to let this devil see me scared. "What have I done?" I asked with a firm resolve, "What have my parents done"

"You have done nothing, except tempt the court" he let me go, knowing I wouldn't try to run with my parent's life dangling under his goonies noses. "Your parents on the other hand owe us something not even the life of their only daughter could repay."

Wait-what? Holdup, let's rewind. Did he just say my parents owe him something my life couldn't pay? That came us a substantial chock. My parents weren't evil. Sure they sometimes didn't give money to every beggar that they bumped upon, but that didn't mean they were Hitler's understudies.

I scanned the room trying to find a way out of this mess.

"Uh-uh" mystery kidnapper said in disapproval, "There are only two ways out of this"

I listened early, hoping I could save my parents and myself as well.

"The first way" he held up one finger, "is to come quietly and hope the court doesn't get carried away but your luscious persona"

I scoffed in disgust. Over my dead body. Seeing I didn't like that escape solution, a gleeful smile overtook his face. "You and I will both love the second option" he said as I leaned in, "it is very simple actually"

"Could you get on with it?" I was very impatient and knew I shouldn't rush my would-be killer, but I didn't rejoice in the joy he took in causing me fear.

"Okay." With swift movement he ran to my struggling parents and held their struggling bodies at the point of his knife. "I will quickly kill both you and your parents, saving you the struggles of court"

My eyes widened in panic and I shook my head. "Absolutely not."

"It is the better of both options." It seemed as if the bastard took pleasure in seeing me frightened. He shifted my parents closer to the gleaming knife.

"What will your choice be?"
