He looked up as a single, fake, tear rolled gracefully down his cheek.
"Alright, if you hit the ball, it can't bounce on your side, if it lands on the floor, and it hasn't bounced on the table, the last person who hit it loses a point, alright?" Dick told us the rules, as Tim sloppily wiped the tear off of his cheek. "First person to three points." He said as he handed me the ball.
I made quick work of Drake and Grayson, but it was when I watched Damian and Jason's round that my little brother won, and I was feeling this strange emotion, like, happiness? Excitement? Pride? It was strange.
I grabbed my paddle, and quickly got prepared. I had never played ping pong before now, and I had just perfected my serve. Damian gave Jason the ball, which was unexpected. I got prepared, and as soon as Jason served it shot it back at him, it landed directly on the edge of the table, and it bounced, Jason diving back to keep it up, but his was only centimetres away from it.
"A point to Darkness!" Damian and Grayson yelled simultaneously. I shot a unapproving look to the young assassin. He immediately stopped cheering and realized what he was doing. Once Jason got back up, he took off his mask, revealing his face. It was my turn to serve, because I won, and I took the ball, immediately aiming for the corner of the thin, green table.
"Aaaaaaand, begin!" He took awhile to say. I immediately shot low and fast, directly between his arms. Unfortunately he caught it and it went high in the air once he did. I backed up, calculating how to get it to him, and after a moment of it soaring, I hit it, and it bounced back so fast the Jason couldn't react in time, so I won the game. It was two outta three, what can I say?
Damian walked up to the side Jason just lost his crown to, and I got ready to shoot fast and straight. We had been trained in the same place, I expected a fair fight. I took the ball, and prepared, we had been trained to observe to find patterns, so I changed my tactic, shooting high and fast.
"And, begin!" The three who had been previously defeated started cheering for Damian as I shot as hard as I could, sending the ball flying over his head. He hadn't been expecting that, but he quickly retaliated, shooting it back into the premises of my side. Unfortunately, he overshot, and I noticed this, letting it fly past the table by millimetres, sending me into my first victory.
"How did they even persuade you to play this, Childs game?" I asked my little brother, as I prepared to shoot.
"Grayson said that I could beat Tim at something that he, 'was really good at.'" He said, as he shot a quick doubtful glance at Tim, then back to me.
"And, begin." Grayson said, and I went as slow as possible, letting the ball bounce slowly across the board. Damian was unprepared for this, and it sent him into denial, as I had just won against all of the boys.
"That was nice, well, I'm gonna go and see if I can't find my way back to a zeta tube, maybe see the team and leave notice." I told them as I started to walk back to the clock door. They didn't stop me, or try, but apparently, Drake hadn't let Damian join, even though he was the new Robin, and they still though Jason was dead.
"I'm going with her." He said, and I heard footsteps behind me. And there was my little brother, with his mask on.
"No."
"Yes."
"You aren't coming."
"Yes I am." By this point, Dick was behind him, getting ready to tackle my little brother.
"I know for a fact that there is no possible way I'm letting you in on this, I'm just going to see some moody teenagers, you hate that right?" As I let my thoughts drift back to Aqua-lad and Blue. As I said it Grayson grabbed my brother from behind and I went out as quietly as possible, not that he couldn't see me leaving, I just didn't want to warn Alfred of my absence.
Once I got outside, which hadn't happened for ages, I saw my bike parked outside, and I immediately jumped on, but before I left I got my spare suit out of the side pocket on the back, where I also had my extendable katana. I quickly slid it on, and practically flew over to the mountain. When I parked I took a deep breath, and went into the place, where I saw a surprised team, but, more or less, it was Blue, who was happiest.
"D-Dark?" He asked as he walked up, and looked behind me to robin, aka, Damian. "Who's that?" He asked.
