I watched as Matt packed his stuff. I didn't say anything, I couldn't. He had tears threatening to fall out of his eyes, but he held a blank face.
He grabbed his bag and looked at me. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again and gave me a curt nod. He turned and walked out the door, leaving me by myself. I shook my head. He can't leave like this, I wouldn't let him. I raced down to the driveway, where he was and yelled his name, "Matthew, you can't leave. Don't leave. I'm sorry. I should have believed you. I love you. I can't be without you, I need you. Don't leave me." The whole time I was begging him to stay, I was holding tightly onto his hand. He looked down at our hands and shook his head. I felt a tear fall on my hand and glanced down at it. He held onto my hand for a minute then let it drop by my side. "I love you, too," he whispered and gave me a kiss on my forehead. He looked at me longingly and started walking to his car, then he left.
