Chapter 4

Chapter 4:

Final report cards are coming out today and I am super nervous. There is only 2 weeks left of school and I can't believe high school is almost over. I am sad but super excited! I get ready and I leave early so I can go get a coffee at Starbucks. My homeroom teacher is awesome because he lets us have drinks in the morning. We get our report cards at the end of the day and I am so nervous.

Its finally the end of the day and we have to go back to homeroom to get our report cards. I don't open mine because I promised TJ I would wait and open it with him. We planned to meet by my car and when I walk out I see him there. "Have you looked yet?" he asks "No, have you?" I say. "Nope, on the count of three" he says. "1" "2" "3". I open it and I couldn't believe my eyes! I got a 4.0 GPA. "I did it" I scream. "Great!" he says "I told you that you had nothing to worry about." I smile then he leans down and kisses me.

I go home and group text my friends to tell them. They are all really excited. I run to my mom as soon as she gets home from work. She says she's proud of me and that I can go to New York. I get a text from TJ and he tells me to meet me at TCBY around 8:15. I ask my mom and she says its fine. We eat dinner around 6 and then I watch TV until I go to meet TJ.

I get there a little early and I don't see his car so I just sit in my car for a few minutes. I see his car and I get out and walk over to him. "Hey" I say. "Hey" he says back as he leans down and kisses me. We go in and get our frozen yogurt. I wonder why he asked my to come but I don't worry because I know it won't be bad with him.

I get vanilla frozen yogurt with lots of bubbles and he gets chocolate with Reese's. I love this place. It is where we had our first date in 8th grade. It was the cutest thing and then we went to go see Bridge to Terebithia. That was one of the best nights ever. Its crazy to think it was almost 5 years ago and we are graduating in two weeks. I am also very excited. We talk about everything under the moon and when we finish eating he says "Let's go! I have a surprise for you." I wonder what he is talking about but I trust him "Ok.."

We go to his car and drive for hours. I know where we are but I have no clue what is going on. I am excited but getting really tired. I fall asleep around 1 am. I wake up around 6 am and its Saturday. I never thought about texting my parents so I get my phone and expect a million texts from my parents. When I look at it there aren't any texts from anyone. I look at TJ and say "Did you text my parents?" "No, but I did talk to them before we left!" he says. "What do you mean?" "Your parents know where you are and their fine with it." he says. "OK! So are you gonna tell me where we are going?" "No. Its a surprise!" he says with a cheesy grin. "You know I hate not knowing stuff!" "Just trust me baby" he says. "Alright"

After hours more of driving I see a sign for Michigan. We stop around nine and get a hotel room then get up early Sunday morning and drive all day. We get to the Canada line and go across the line and finally he says "Where here!" We are at this really nice resort. "Wow! But what are we doing here?" You'll see very soon!" We go in and put our stuff up. "Your mom packed you a bag." TJ says. "Ok. Will you please tell me where were going or what were doing here." I ask. "Just wait it won't be much longer."

We drive out like 30 min and we are at a beach. We get out and get a blanket and two pillows. We go out on the beach and make a little "bed." We lay out and I ask "Are we here to look at the stars?" "Not exactly, there look." he says. I look up and its the Northern Lights. "WOW" I say. It has been my dream forever to see the Northern Lights. It is gorgeous, I mean its unexplainable. "Was it worth the drive?" TJ asks me. "A million times!" I pull out my camera that I got for my 17th birthday. I take a million pictures. I love photography! After a few hours the lights almost vanish and we pack up and go to the car. We are both tired so we go straight to the hotel and go to bed.

I wake up around nine and TJ is still sleeping. He is so cute when he is sleeping. He has his arm around me so I try and get up without waking him but it doesn't work out. "Good Morning" I say as he opens his eyes. "Morning" he says. "So are we heading back today? We have school this week." I ask. "Ya." he says back. TJ still has not let go of me so I just lay back down. We lay there taking about NYC, and school and college.

TJ's phone rings and he has to get up and get it. I let him flip over to get the phone but I pull him back so he won't leave. He answers but I can't hear who it is. He gets a strange look on his face then I can tell its bad news. He gets up and walks over near the door and I cant really hear him because he is whispering. He finally comes back and lays down. He wraps his arms around me and I know whatever it is its bad. "Whats up?"I ask. "That was my mom. She said my grandmother had a stroke." "What! O my gosh is she ok?" I interrupt. "She's alright but the doctors are saying she doesn't have much more time." "I'm so sorry. What are you gonna do?" I ask "Well my parents are flying out early and they want me to come when school is over and bring a truck with all of our stuff."he says. "Do you want me to go with you? I could get a flight out just so you won't have to drive out there by yourself." I ask. "Thats really nice of you but I don't have all the details worked out and your supposed to go to NYC." he says. "Well whatever you want New York isn't going anywhere." I say. He laughs a little and then says "We better get going baby." "Alright" I say back as I run to the shower so I can get in first. We leave in about an hour and we drive for hours and hours. It starts to get dark and I ask TJ if he wants me to drive because I can tell he is getting tired. We stop and then I drive and TJ falls asleep right away. We have to make it back for school Tuesday so we can't stop anywhere. Since we have TJ's car we decide to go to his house and his parents aren't there. We get to his house late! We sleep in the next day because we are so tired so we miss school on Tuesday. We go back Wednesday and we don't do much because grades are done. Theres only 7 more school days till graduation and I am so excited.
