ACT THREE

SCENE ONE

FADE IN:

START EXT. INTERSTATE 95 – SOMEWHERE NEAR EDGEWATER, FLORIDA – 3 AM

On interstate 95 somewhere near Edgewater Florida our main character is still driving his jeep.

START INT. INTERSTATE 95 – INSIDE OF SHAW'S JEEP – 3 AM

Inside of the Jeep is Damion Shaw. A man with a mind filled more with memories than hope.

Shaw has clenched both his hands to his steering wheel for the entire journey. He's focused.

Shaw looks at the rear view mirror and sees an empty road behind him. He looks back at the road and takes a breath. The road before him is just as empty as the one behind him. He thinks to himself.

SHAW'S THOUGHTS

"Maybe this is how life will always be. Maybe you'll always end up on a emptier road than the one you just left."

Shaw looks back at the rearview and sees something strange. His eyes are focused on themselves but he feels no pressure on his eyes. Something wasn't right. The eyes kept starring into his own, like a hungry Lion stalking its prey.

Shaw looks back at the road, and then back at the rear view. His eyes are no longer focused. He is relieved until he looks to his left. To the left of him is a dark figure. Shaw freaks and lets go of the steering wheel, he brakes as fast as he can, but he still hits the interstate railing. He hits the steering wheel with his head, but the airbags don't deploy because the impact wasn't too bad. Shaw looks back to his left but the figure is now gone.

Shaw feels blood coming from his head. He finds a slight cut.

SHAW

"Fucking A."

Shaw gets out of the car and examines the damage. The frame is virtually dent free, but the bumper had to pay the price.

Shaw looks around the highway. It's still dead, but the road is starting to get engulfed in a thick fog. Shaw gets back in the Jeep, backs up, and continues to the drive along the highway. After a few miles he sees a sign that says "New Smyrna Beach, 5 miles away."

Shaw begins to debate whether or not he should stop at this town. He looks back at the rear view. The fog has gotten so much thicker. Shaw decides to get on the exit and off the highway.

The town too is covered in a thick fog, but as Shaw enters the town it dissipates. He turns into the nearest gas station, exits the Jeep, and looks towards the entrance of the town. It was as if the fog were giant guard doors for the town.

Shaw goes into the gas station.

GAS ATTENDENT

"How my I help you son?"

SHAW'S THOUGHTS

"Damn that's one of hell of a country accent."

SHAW

"I would like twenty dollars on pump one sir."

GAS ATTENDENT

"Alrighty sir."

Shaw gives the attendant the twenty and looks out the window towards the town.

GAS ATTENDENT

"So where ya from boy?"

Shaw snickers.

SHAW

"It's obvious I'm not from here?"
