Here's another chapter of Normal for the ones of you who are reading this! It's a filler chapter with substance, but I'm not completely happy with the ending. I might eventually go back and edit it a bit, so just keep that in mind, unless you guys like it. Okay? Here's chapter 8.

Chapter 8~

The next few weeks flew by in a blur, and I still hadn't called June. My mother was starting to get on my case but I was reluctant. As soon as June waved off our little tiff, she'd expect to have me agree to everything she planned, which would be the end of my temporary 'normal' lifestyle I had already grown used to.

These thoughts had me completely absorbed. My deep thinking was also the reason that, while walking to my locker after biology class, I hadn't been consciously watching where I was going and ended up smacking into someone.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!" I apologized frantically. The girl I had bumped into glanced at me and broke into a wide smile. My own eyes widened dramatically when I recognized her as the curvy blonde from the 'mean girls' posse.

 Oh great. I was doomed.

"I'm really sorry, are you okay? I wasn't looking-"

"What? No, I'm totally fine!" she laughed. "It was actually my fault." She leaned in toward me. "I was texting," she giggled.

"Oh," I said quietly. My books were lying haphazardly on the hallway floor so I bent over and scooped them back into my arms.

"I'm Seraleigh by the way," she chirped cheerfully. "Wait... ohemgee, you're the new girl! Fletcher told us all you're a model! Like, a famous one apparently?" she half-asked, half-stated.

The color drained from my face. Fletcher had told people I was a model? If word broke out among the entire school that could cause unwanted publicity, and...

 Cue a mental freak out.

"Um... I, ah... err... uh," I stuttered brilliantly.

 Seraleigh beamed. "Walk with me?'

I nodded mutely. She looped her arm in mine and practically dragged me with her. Fortunately, she didn't seem to be snarkly like Fletcher's girlfriend.

"Yeah, so like after Fletch- King. Sorry, I mean after King told us you were like a famous model or whatever, you became, like, the IT girl. All the guys want you and all the girls want to either know or BE you. It's sooo weird! That's how it used to be when Nina became King's girlfriend, but since nobody really likes her that much, she was dropped like a hot potato when you came along," she rambled in seemingly one breath.

I simply blinked, trying to process her relayed information. All of the sudden, Seraleigh clapped a hand over her mouth as though horrified.

"Please don't think I'm a bad person for badmouthing Nina! Sometimes things just fly out of my mouth without a filter and I try so hard to be careful but it doesn't always work out the way I want it to," she explained in an ashamed sigh.

I offered her a small smile.

"It's okay, your secret's safe with me," I said, smiling. She giggled.

"Oh yeah! Uh, just to give you a little heads up, it's heading towards Doomsday in King and Nina's relationship. Apparently, she overheard King talking about you to his football friends, and now she's acting a bit crazy. Oh, and um... all of Nina's posse hates you, and all the guys on the sports teams are lusting after you," she blurted super fast.

"But... No one really talks to me," I admitted, a little embarrassed.

"Oh but honey, they are checking. You. OUT! They just don't approach because they're intimidated as hell by your freaking beauty. To be honest, even I'M intimidated! But then I found out you're really super nice and so now it's more a subtle jealousy thing, you know?" She led me by the arm to the cafeteria and I had just resorted to nodding and going with the flow by now.
