"Miss Marvolo," Dumbledore said, eyes boring into Veronica as if he could see straight into her most inner thoughts. Although Veronica didn't melt under his glare like Harry and so many others often did, instead she stood confident, not breaking Dumbledore's glare- almost as if she could see right back through him. Dumbledore furrowed his eyebrows slightly and continued, "I was wondering if I could take a look at your wand."
Veronica's grip tightened around the wand in her hand, "And what will you be looking for?"
Dumbledore grinned slightly, "it's unlike any wand I have seen in many, many years."
At this Harry began to run his eyes over the white wand clutched between her fingers. He didn't know much about the different meanings of wands, but this wand did seem unlike any wand he had come across during his time at Hogwarts.
After several moments of silence, Veronica slowly began extending her arm while simultaneously loosening her grip. The wand fell delicately into Dumbledore's outstretched hand.
"Not exactly a wand from Ollivander's, is it?" Harry and Veronica both watched Professor Dumbledore as he turned the wand in his hands. "May I?" He asked, looking politely at Veronica. She nodded her head slightly and stared, unblinking at Dumbledore.
He raised the wand slightly and gave it the smallest of flicks. A stream of greenish-blue light shot out of the tip, shattering the glass table that stood in front of the the tall window. Harry jumped at the unexpected noise of shattering glass and Dumbledore's eyes widened for the slightest second before returning back to their impartial state. Veronica, however, stood unsurprised by the uncontrolled action that her wand produced.
She and Dumbledore shared a long, wordless look at each other before Dumbledore spoke, "As I expected-"
"Are you finished?" Veronica interrupted, face unchanged. Professor gave a slight frown before returning the wand back to its owner.
"Yes, yes, well as..." Dumbledore paused, looking for the right word, "interesting as your wand is, that isn't the reason I have brought you both here.
"You see," Dumbledore's eyes flashed back and forth between the two students before they landed back on Veronica, "You have the ability to perform a skill that I believe could do Harry some good."
Veronica's eyes searched Dumbledore before turning to Harry and doing the same.
"And what skill is that, Professor?" Harry broke the silence as a way to break Veronica's stare.
"Well," Dumbledore said, tilting his head to the side with a slight grin, "Veronica has performed some of the best wandless magic I have ever seen. Also her nonverbal skills are quite impressive for any wizard, especially one as young as she-"
"How do you know that?" Veronica interrupts, for the first time looking caught off guard. Her already pale skin seemed to turn an even whiter shade.
Dumbledore smiled politely, "I don't know if it would be something you're interested in, but Potter and I would both be most appreciative if you could give him lessons."
"And why is that?" Harry's eyebrows furrowed as he stared at Dumbledore, "Why do I need to learn wandless magic?"
"Because-"
"Because when this happens," Veronica interrupted Professor Dumbledore a little angrily. She quickly flicked her wrist, not muttering a word, and Harry's wand went flying out of his hand and across the room, "When that happens, what are you going to do? How do you plan to fight me without your wand if you don't know any wandless magic?"
Harry looked incredulously towards Dumbledore, who only smiled and nodded.
"Okay then," Harry said lowly. Dumbledore and Harry both turned towards Veronica expectantly. She flicked her eyes back and forth between the two before settling on Dumbledore.
