The first day of classes appeared rather quickly. Professor Mcgonagall passed around the schedules to all the Gryffindors, resulting in some groans and some cheers from varying groups depending on what their schedule looked like for their first day.

"Ugh," Ron groaned, looking up from the fourth year's schedule, "After charms we have double herbology and history of magic."

"At least potions aren't until thursday," Harry added, sparing a glare towards Snape, the potions teacher who seemed to have it out for Harry. Snape's scowl was as deeply embedded as ever and his greasy hair only seemed to grow longer over the summer.

The students trickled out of the dining hall, each making their way to the first class of the semester. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the gryffindor and ravenclaw fourth years filed into their 9am class. Professor Flitwick, the partial goblin charms teacher, was perched on his pile of books in order for him to see over his desk.

After a brief welcome back speech, Flitwick had the class working on summoning and banishing charms. Hermione, who had studied the spell many times over the years, had a feather flying towards her from across the room in a matter of minutes. The rest of the class, however, seemed to struggle with the fairly advanced spell.

After a couple of Ravenclaws, Harry was one of the first five to successfully summon his feather. Harry looked around the room, observing his fellow students in their struggle. Ron seemed to be pronouncing the word accio incorrectly. Neville continued to wave his wand in the opposite direction from how it is suppose to be. Harry moved his eyes across the room to another table of Gryffindor's. Veronica and the people Harry assumed to be her roommates were all waving their wands in the direction of the feathers, but the desired effect going incompleted.

Harry couldn't help watching Veronica, attempting to find the point of her error. He took notice that her wand movement is nothing less than perfection and based on what he could hear, her verbal command was perfectly dictated. Harry involuntarily took a few steps closer, observing her even further. He could see her flashing her attention to different points around, effectively breaking the communication between her spell and any object she could have wanted to move.

Harry made a step to go over and attempt to help her before he flashed back to reality and realized how strange that would seem to her, being as they had never even had a conversation before.

Harry turned around and noticed how far he had traveled from his desk. Hermione was glaring at him with some sort unknown emotion. Harry quickly moved back towards the desk, trying to avoid Hermione's gaze.

"What were you doing?" Hermione whispered beside Harry.

Harry didn't say anything as he looked around to assure no one else had seen his lapse in judgment. No one was paying any attention to anything other than their spells.

"Fine, don't tell me," Hermione whispered harshly, "But you should at least be working on your depulso spell."

Harry went back to work, attempting to banish the feather from the desk in front of him, but he could no longer concentrate, his spell execution looking much like Veronica's. Luckily no one else had managed to successfully banish their feathers by the end of class, apparently depulso being much more difficult than accio

The rest of the week went by painfully. Double herbology led to Harry being bitten by several vicious plants. History of magic was no more interesting than usual, allowing Harry and Ron to doze off several of times, much to the disapproval of Hermione. Potions was filled with its usual amount of torture. On Thursday, Snape took 5 points from Gryffindor simply because Harry sneezed too loud.
