How do my parents know Raidon? This was the only thought I was able to process as my parents greeted Raidon like their long lost son. The phrase "small world" seems to fit this situation perfectly. I just stood there watching my mother hug the life out of Raidon, while my father patted him on the back.
"An explanation would be lovely," I interrupted, tired of waiting for an answer.
"Oh! Sorry dear, we use to know his parents in college," my mother explained. "They were are closest friends."
I didn't miss the sad look in Raidon's eyes when my mother spoke of his parents.
"I see, well we best be on on our way then."
"Hold on kiddo," my father calls out before I could reach the door "Your mother and I just want to let you know that we love you with all our hearts, stay safe, and happy birthday." I see my mother tearing up.
"I love you both too, thank you for everything," I reply. I know something is wrong, but I know my parents well enough, to know they would tell me if they wanted me to know.
I made my way to Raidon's car, my mind wandering through all the possible reasons for my parents unusual behavior. I was so deep in thought I didn't even notice Raidon get into the car until we were already on the highway.
"Do you know why-," I start, but was cut off by the car swerving harshly to the left, making me bang my head against the window. The car continued to swerve in jerking motions before coming to a rest in a dark grassy field on the side of the road. Holding my head to try to ease the throbbing pain, I try to take in my surroundings. There wasn't a car in sight. I look over to Raidon, only to find him passed out and heavily bleeding from an unknown wound.
"Just fucking dandy," I whisper yell, frustrated with the world.
I try to open the door, only to find it stuck. Anger was slowly seeping in to my semi-calm demeanor.
"Bloody hell!," I yell out.
I lean over to the drivers side door to find it stuck also. I sigh loudly and sit back in my seat. I contemplate how mad Raidon would be when I shatter his window. It would be to save his life, surely he would understand. Closing my eyes I take a deep breath, I need to find something to slow his bleeding, and call for help. Opening my eyes i'm greeted with a bright white light. Headlights, hopefully to a truck. I reach and turn on the cars hazards lights while I wait for the vehicle to get closer. Within a few minutes the lights are right on us, but its not headlights like I first thought, It's not even two separate lights. I groan hoping it's not some creepy phycho with a flashlight, I really don't have time for that at the moment. I look into the light, seeing it get bigger, bigger than any flashlight, and approaching much faster than before. My eyes widen in surprise, I know I could break the window and safe myself, but I wouldn't have time to save Raidon too. I see the light right in front of us, and I make my decision. I throw myself over Raidon's unconscious body, shielding him as we are bathe in the light. I start to feel dizzy, my headache increases tenfold, I become disoriented, as if I'm moving to fast. I hold tighter to Raidon, trying to hold on to my barrings. I'm unaware of the time that has passed, everything being unclear until I was brought to my knees on a hard surface. Everything was still spinning. I berried my head into the crook of Raidon's neck, trying regain my focus, but with every breath I took a new wave of dizziness clouded my mind.e
"The time has come," A voice whispered before the dizziness consumed me , throwing me into a black abyss.
