Brandon wasn’t home. I quickly tossed my backpack in the bedroom and got down to work
A couple of hours later, I heard the front door open and hurried to greet my boy with a kiss. He didn’t hesitate to drop his briefcase on the floor as I hurled myself on him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and even lifted me off the floor a little. Yes, Brandon had some muscles of his own.
I felt the familiar pattern of his lips on my own. They were warm and soft. Almost capable of erasing the insanity that had taken over me in the last couple of days. Almost.
“Hey, boo!” He was smiling a sweet smile after I drew back, his brown irises lit.
“I missed you!” I said softly, pressing another peck on his lips.
“I missed you, too.”
I grabbed him by the wrist and started pulling him toward the living room.
“Where are you taking me? What’s all this?” he asked surprised as we entered.
I had cooked his favourite meal and had arranged the table with some candles.
“I thought we deserved a nice night,” I offered modestly.
He cupped my face and plastered one appreciative kiss on my mouth. “I have the best girlfriend,” he commented and I felt my stomach churn.
“Come on, let’s eat before it gets cold,” I urged and moved to put some food on his plate as he took a chair.
He was clueless but I knew exactly what this was. The guilt was acting on my behalf but I was helpless against it. I had to do something for my relationship. I loved Brandon and he didn’t deserve all that that was going on during the weekend. Even if it was all just in my head.
