Three
Jane was driving to the apartment me, her, and Darcy shared. Thor had gone back to Asgard, and I was shell shocked and depressed. Jane glanced at me. I saw her reflection in the window.
"You miss him?" She asked quietly. I snapped out of whatever trance I was in, and said,
"Who?"
It was dark outside. She rolled her eyes.
"Loki," she said. I looked back out the window sadly.
"You had something going on with him didn't you?"
"He's a butt hole," I said, avoiding her question. "He was a butt hole."
A silent tear slipped out.
"What happened between you two?" She questioned.
"Well, when we were in the cave, we were fussing. Like, we were threatening to kill each other. I said something, and he kissed me. We've been off and on like that. Fighting, then kissing and complementing. Then, we'd fight again, and then, we'd say the sweetest things. It's like he hated me, but still liked me," I explained.
"He'll come back, Tho-" she began.
"He's not coming back, Jane! He's dead!" I shouted. Jane sighed sadly at me and turned off the car.
"It's been about two months since you last saw him. You still miss him that bad?" She asked.
Yes, it has been two months. Malekith is gone. Thor defeated him with our help.
"Yes, I do," I replied, opening the car door. It was cold.
"But you hated each other," Jane told me.
"I told you, it was a 'love' hate."
We got out of the car and went inside. Darcy was sitting on the couch watching The Lord of the Rings with Ian the intern. Now, he was Ian her boyfriend.
"Hey," they said at the same time. I sat down on the sofa furthest away from them, and Jane went to get some coffee. They didn't know about me and Loki. Only Jane.
"Hey," I whispered.
"Why are you always so bummed these days? Ever since you got back from the adventure with Thor and Jane, you've been sad," Darcy asked.
I shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe I have that weather depression disease or something," I said.
"I had that when I was sixteen. I outgrew it," Ian admitted. Darcy smiled and snuggled up to him.
Jane came back and sat beside me. She passed me a sheet of paper. It said, 'do you know what Loki told Thor before he died?' I wrote back, 'no.' She passed it back. 'Thor told me he told him to watch over you.' I crumbled the sheet of paper and put it in my pocket.
"I really want him back," I whispered.
"Oooh Emmie's got a boyfriend! What's his name?" Darcy demanded.
"I don't have a boyfriend," I snarled.
"Yes chu do," Darcy teased. I threw a pillow at her and yelled,
"Get out of my kool aid!"
Darcy laughed,
"Now that's the Emmie I know." She's always called me that. Jane sipped her coffee and said,
"You guys are so weird."
"I'm going to bed. Goodnight," I said.
I went to my room and pulled my pajamas on. I crawled into bed and pulled the covers to my chin. That night, I had a dream. In the dream, Loki was standing with me somewhere dark and dreary looking. He was standing in front of me with his arms behind his back, and a huge grin plastered on his face.
"Have you missed me?" He asked, caressing my face.
"No," I lied, pushing his hand away. He smirked and rolled his eyes.
"You're such a smart aleck," he snarled.
"Look at yourself," I snapped.
"I know I am," Loki said.
I shoved him, and he shoved me.
"Stop," I said hitting him in the chest. He pushed me and I fell over onto a tall rock. It didn't hurt me, because it was a dream.
"Stupid," I said.
"Idiot," he growled.
"Shut up!" I screamed. He sneered at me, and I got up and fell into his arms. He sort of patted my back awkwardly, but affectionately.
"Why did you have to die?" I asked quietly, a tear slipping from my eye.
"Because I was saving you, my brother, and Jane," he replied softly, stroking my hair. I was warm. Suddenly, he began to fade away.
"No, don't go!" I said sternly, trying to clutch to his robe. He was leaving me quickly.
"Come back!" I yelled. He was gone.
"I hate you!" I screamed to him.
He was already gone. And I was all alone.
Suddenly, I woke up crying. Tears blurred my vision, and blurred my cheeks. Jane, whom I shared a room with, was across the room asleep, snoring softly. I saw a dark shape at the foot of my bed. It was dark in the room, so I couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman.
The entity didn't look too muscular. I sat up in my bed. I was scared. The figure sort of produced an eerie feeling. I squinted at it trying to figure out what it was, when I heard a low chuckle.
"Have you missed me?" I heard a voice say. I've been missing that voice for almost two months now.
