"Have you seen the thing I sent you last night, though?" I asked my best friend, Vic, my arm looped with his as we walked our way through the halls. A few groups of students are blocking our way, some giving us weird stares but me being me, I gave them my usual snarky remarks, mumbling profanities as I try to push my way through them. Vic would nudge me, telling me not to be rude or whatever.
"Yeah." He replied simply with a small nod, the slight curls of his hair waving a little, making me giggle.
"So? What do you think? I'm thinking of making the main character a little bit like-"
"I've seen it but I haven't read it yet." He said, raising a finger as if shushing me. I rolled my eyes at him, pushing him harshly but still keeping my arm around his. "I'll read it later, don't worry." He reassured and gave me an apologetic smile.
"Thanks. I need your opinion on that one. I liked writing that chapter."
"You like writing all your chapters."
"That's true."
"Promise me you'll never forget me when you become famous?" He asked as I pushed the door of our classroom, revealing a quite empty room.
There's just two people inside at the moment. One kid's name is Oliver. He's fairly quiet and reserved, just like myself but maybe eight times quieter compared to me. He looks very mysterious and intimidating, not a lot of people dare to speak to him seeing as whenever they try to do so, he'll just look up at them with this hollow, blank stare that could make even the professor drop any sort of curiosity that they have in their mind. The other one is Hayley Nichole. She's an actual definition of sunshine. Even though I am one hundred percent gay, I'd still go straight for her. Probably. I'm not sure. Sad thing is, I'm not her type. I don't converse with her that much. Actually, I don't talk to anyone in university that much, unless needed or forced to.
"Do you think Mr. Hayes would show up today?" I asked as I started neatly putting my things out on my desk, my homework on top of my notebook.
"I hope so. It took you two weeks to perfect that essay." Vic teased as he gave me a teasing look, his lips suppressing a laugh. I rolled my eyes at him but chuckled, nonetheless, earning the attention of Oliver who stared at me for a few seconds before shaking his head and going back to his phone.
I rolled my eyes at his weird behavior and turned my attention back to Vic. "I take my writing seriously."
"Way too seriously. It's just an essay, Kells." Vic commented and if he wasn't my best friend, I would've slapped him right then and there. He should be thankful that I love him.
"So? I like writing." He didn't reply and shook his head instead, a smile playing on his lips.
Vic and I had been friends since I was a little over eleven years old. I met him in this park two blocks down from our house. I remember that day clearly and although our first time meeting was quite pathetic on my end, I still wouldn't trade it for anything. I love Vic with all my heart. For eight years, he's all I've got beside me. I mean, yes I have my parents but we just do not have the same bond that Vic and I have. Vic and I are inseparable and a lot of people find it weird, apparently. I honestly don't know what their deal is but we could care less. Even in high school, though. People always gave us these weird looks whenever we walk down the halls, even when we talk in class. I genuinely don't get it. Good thing Vic and I don't get affected with that shit.
Twenty minutes had gone by, students are already giddily chatting amongst their own groups as we all waited for the time to roll by. I don't really know why Mr. Hayes rarely attend the classes, I don't even know why we bother showing up in the first place. I could hear the people around us, predicting that maybe the professor wouldn't shop up again as they start planning where they'd be heading off ones the free-cut time rolls by. Unfortunately for all of us, two minutes before that time, our professor emerged through the large doors of our lecture room.
"Good afternoon." He greeted as if on instinct as he went to his table in front, dropping his books and immediately proceeding to grab a chalk and writing something on the board. Most of us went to sit on our own seats while we awaited for what he's bound to instruct us to do while the others carried on with their hushed giggling and banters. "Please pass your essays in front." He said as he carried on writing, his back still turned to us. I handed Oliver my paper, giving him a smile but he returned a blank stare instead. That kid seriously has some issues.
"I seriously have no idea what his deal is." I mumbled to Vic, seeing as his eyes were cast upon our direction.
"Don't mind him, he's a weirdo." Vic said, earning a chuckle from me. The entire duration of the period, Mr. Hayes talked about Sigmund Freud and how he contributed greatly to the world of Psychology. I found myself too engrossed with the stuff that he's saying. I don't know, there's just something too fascinating about people's minds.
Although Mr. Hayes could be a bit too strict, I still like him. He's very knowledgeable about Psychology and every meeting is quite exciting seeing as he has so much stuff planned for his class. Before I knew it, the bell rang, signaling for the end of the class. "We'll be watching a movie next meeting so I expect you all to come to class on time. Alright, off you go." Mr. Hayes declared as he shooed us out of the room, his facial expression blank as ever.
"What're we going to watch next meeting?" I asked the professor curiously. Another thing is, I actually consider Mr. Hayes as my favorite professor. He's very interactive and real to his students, not like our other professors.
"We'll see next week." He answered with a small smile, stacking our essays into one pile together with his book and folders. "I'm looking forward to reading your essay, by the way." He added on, making me smile so much to the point where Vic had to slap my arm just so that I could snap myself back from the overwhelming feeling.
"I worked hard on it." I said rather proudly.
"He really did. He worked on it for weeks." Vic chimed in, giving me that teasing look again. I glared daggers his way, shutting him up instantly.
"Shut up." I said with a scoff.
"Anyways, I better get going. Bye, Kellin." He waved as he went for the door. "See you, Vic."
