Okay...i got bored and i figured the second part was way more interesting and more likely to catch ur attention so...here's part 2

My sister finally stopped crying when the leader hit her hard on the head. I had the sudden uncontrollable urge to punch the leader on the nose until it bled. I struggled hard to get away but Kunle's hands were like vices. I hated the leader so much I named him Parasite. Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. Before I knew what was happening I was bopped on head as well. Ouch, Parasite's knuckles were as hard as granite. My mother's face swam before my eyes and I swayed dizzily before I fell to the ground. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was the muddy sneakers of the man I nicknamed Parasite. Lying next to it were the bloody remains of my mother's tongue. Not a bad start to a day, were the sarcastic thoughts I managed to think before I headed to Dreamland.

I woke up with a blazing headache and I felt awful. At first I thought I was in my bed and it was all a dream but when I tried to stretch out, I hit someone who squealed. I screamed and a hand clamped over my mouth. I struggled but it was pretty hard since I was chained. A voice whispered in my ear, "Calm down, calm down."

I tried to bite the person's hand but my sister's voice said, "Sis, it's okay, he's not going to hurt you." I managed to become relatively calm but I was ready in case it was a trick. The hand let go of my mouth and I turned to look at my captor. It was a boy barely older than me. A girl my age was standing beside him. I bet they were siblings. They had the same good-looking features.

"Hey is that what I get for trying to help? Bitten fingers?" he asked but his eyes said that he was joking.

"Sorry," I replied. "Who are you? What happened? Where am I? What is going to happen to us? Where is my mom?" I asked.

"Whoa, whoa, cut back the questions. My name is Danladi. This is my twin sister Danuwa." She nodded at me and I smiled at her, trying to be friendly. "What happened was you were unconscious, just like the rest of us but you were the last to wake up. You must have been dreaming because you hit my sister in your sleep. You screamed and I clamped my hand on your mouth to stop you from screaming. The rest you know. Where we are...we are in a ware house or something like that. I have no idea what's going to happen to us but I somehow don't think it's good. As for where your mother is, she's probably with the other grownups."

His words made me look around the room and I realized for the first time that the room was filled with children and just children. The room was packed and each child did not have much space. It was lucky I had always been a skinny child and so had my sister. Suddenly, the door opened and a man came in to feed us. It was Parasite! Gosh, how the sight of that man made my eyes burn. He went around giving us measly helpings of some porridge sludge that looked disgusting.

He put some into my sister's hands and he accidently hit her with the ladle and she whimpered. He heard that and he hit her with the ladle again, only this time it was no accident. My hatred for that man clouded my eyes and before I knew what I was doing, I yelled out "Don't touch her!" and punched him. He glared at me and yanked my hair hard. "You little ball of slime!" he shouted. I screamed partly because of the pain and also because I was so scared he was going to pull all my hair out. I didn't want to be bald.

Then, Danladi pinched Parasite hard and he let go off my hair. He roared and slapped Danladi hard. I screamed again, or I tried to but no sound came out. My anger caused someone else to get hurt. Tears streamed down my cheeks not for the first time that day. Then, Danuwa, who couldn't bear seeing her twin hurt like that, started hitting Parasite to cause a distraction. He kicked at her stomach and bellowed, "You worthless ..." The rest of it is not appropriate to be written down. "You three will be the first to go since you are so eager to go. You will go now, on the ship meant just for adults. Which will probably mean you children will have to sleep out on the deck because of the lack of space and you will not like it one bit." He dragged us three out of the room and slammed the door. "Zaina! Zaina!" I yelled for my little sister and I heard her calling for me too but nothing could be done. What would my poor little sister, who has never been without me or my mother ever, do alone? I screamed myself unconscious which is not particularly healthy. No wonder my voice has never been the same.

When I came to, I was lying in an uncomfortable position and the floor was moving. My throat hurt and I had lost my voice. No big surprise there. It was raining on me. The evil man kept his promise to put us on deck. I tried to stretch and realized I was chained to something. No, I corrected myself. Someone. I looked beside me and saw Danladi and Danuwa sleeping to my left. I sighed and closed my eyes and surprisingly fell asleep.

When I woke up, I saw Danladi lying awake beside me. Danuwa was still sleeping. It had stopped raining and the hot sun was beating down on me. "Sorry," I said to Danladi.

"What for?" he asked. "Oh you're awake."

"Yes I'm awake. I'm sorry I got you in trouble at the warehouse place. How long was I out?" I asked.

"Three days. Don't worry you didn't miss anything. Unless you call torturing people something."

I lapsed into silence. It was my fault we were here, on a ship to some place on the other end of the world. It was my fault I would never see my family again. Everything was my fault but somehow I couldn't feel sad, or cry. I was suddenly devoid of emotions.

Suddenly, we were wrenched up onto our feet. Since Danuwa was chained to us, she was forced to wake up and stand up all in the same second. Tough. A hairy wicked-looking giant was holding our arms. He had orange hair and a big tangled orange beard. His skin was an ugly white but his face was red. His eyes however, were what I found most mesmerizing. They were blue, a colour I had never thought possible in eyes. So it's quite obvious how I thought this man was a monster. I screamed, but I had lost my voice so nothing came out. Danladi nudged me and I shut my mouth.

"Are these monsters going to eat us?" I asked Danladi.

He smiled grimly. "No, but they are going to do something much, much worse." That didn't encourage me in any way.

What I saw next should not be read if you have a weak stomach. We stood on the deck and saw two men were chained to the mast. They were being whipped by a whip with spikes. I later learnt it was called a cat-o-nine-tails. Every time they were whipped, they would moan in pain and blood would spurt everywhere. Which included on us because we were the nearest to the mast. The term beaten to death is appropriate to be used here. It was then I realized they were naked. It was then I realized everyone was naked. Including me. I suddenly felt embarrassed which was then replaced by anger. What right did these monsters have to kill us, take us away from our homes and strip us of whatever little privacy we had?

Everyone else was also forced to watch this act of cruelty. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw two lovers jump overboard. I realized a minute to late that they were committing suicide. I turned away, sick mentally and physically, unable to watch anymore.

The next couple of months were practically the same thing done over and over again. Every day, I'd see at least one person get tortured or die. The sick were thrown of the ship in such cruelty it made me feel sick but I didn't dare vomit because it meant succumbing to the same fate and losing food. We were fed once a day and we were fed the same porridge sludge we had to eat in the warehouse. Worst of all, our portion was what could fit in our hands. So if you had small hands, tough luck. I was trying to treasure all the food I got and I learnt the importance of food pretty fast.

I became good friends with Danladi and Danuwa. They were the only things I looked forward to everyday. They were the reason I wasn't dead yet. I had some pretty close calls. Luckily for me, Parasite wasn't on the boat or I would have committed suicide like some people did. It was gruesome, what I saw on the ship. I was glad somehow, that I didn't have to sleep under deck though because the stories I had heard about under deck were not very nice. I didn't care that we were exposed to the weather. At least it wasn't hot and smelly. Even from the top of the stairs leading to the under deck you could smell the stench.

I used to believe in God but by the end of the voyage, I didn't anymore. I had used up all my faith already in other things. Faithless, sick and sad, I arrived in America.
