I usually don't care if I'm late. Despite being indifferent to my grades, to studying, to school in general, the material is still pretty easy to get, and I have motivation; get an education, get a job, get a life. If I complete school, I can get a good job and slave away for my money just like the government wants me to, just like the rest of the population. Money means I have a nice, safe place to go home to and good food to eat. Bro gave me neither. I'm determined to be a better person than he ever was or ever will be.
That being said, if I had it my way, I'd already be working and would just show up for my midterms and finals, but there's just one thing; John. As over-their-shit as everyone might be now, I still get kind of worried about him. He went against my advice to study out of state - or at least at another school - because even with all the hell he's been though, this town is still like home to him. I don't like leaving him alone because of... what happened when we were younger. We don't have any classes together, but I make it a point to walk him to his first one, even if it's far from mine. I also meet up with him at lunch and during any free period he has, even though I usually have class during those slots of time. Like I said, I just don't care. Making sure he's okay is my top priority, even though he claims that everything's okay and that everyone treats him nicely. That he's happy, even. I guess I get a little paranoid when it comes to him.
"-ave... Are you okay? Dave!" John's voice brings me back to reality and my hidden gaze snaps up to meet his. He's been waving his hand in front of my face.
"Huh? What is it?" He gives me a weird look but grins, moving his bag to his other shoulder.
"You've been standing in front of my class for a few minutes. You're gonna be later than usual if you don't get going, dude." I look down, kind of embarrassed that I lost my focus.
"Oh. Sorry." He laughs slightly, shakes his head, kisses my cheek, and flashes me a smile before disappearing back into his classroom with a slight wave. I peek in, biting my lip, and watch as several people come up to him. He's grinning. I sigh and look away. Maybe he's right. He looks fine enough. I'm probably just worrying about him more than I should be. I turn and start walking the long distance to my first class of the day, which just so happens to be Programming. I've always been good at working electronics and setting them up, and when I randomly decided to make my first website, I knew it came naturally. Since it's easy, and can pay pretty well, I thought I might as well go into a similar course. A bony hand clasps my shoulder and I flinch slightly, my eyes widening, my heart skipping a beat.
"Hey aththhat. What'th new?" I look at the mustard-blood and narrow my eyes.
"Fucking hell, Captor. You scared the shit out of me." I watch as his nose scrunches up.
"You humanth and your awful expreththionth."
"It's not like yours are any better. You heading to Programming too, today, or are you gonna skip again?" He sighs.
"I can't. My moirail tranthferred here today and we have the thame thchedule. I promithed him I would hang around and thhow him the ropeth today."
"Moirail? What is that, alien for lover?" He glares at me.
"Fuck you, Thtrider, it'th not like that. Oh, wait, I forgot that your human thinkpan ith too incompetent to underthtand thuch advanthed and thophithticated topicth. It'th like betht friends, but a little clother." I smirk.
"Sophisticated is just another word for complicated. So, you're saying you guys are friends with benefits?" He gives me a weird look as we step off of the pavement and onto the grass.
"What the fuck ith that thuppothed to mean?" I sigh.
"Let me put it more blatantly; do you guys do the nasty?"
