The morning takes its first breath

As night slowly fades away.

There is a sort of serenity as

Bood-red colors sweep across the sky.

Everything is breathing again.

The grass and trees reach upward,

Waiting for the time when they will

Once again receive attention.

Birds chirp happily at the

Arrival of their old friend.

Animals climb out of their holes

And wait for the warmth to

Fall upon them once again.

We shall come alive once more

On this day,

Feel the sun on our skin,

Experience nature,

And then shut down again

When the night falls.

As I finally rise

And stroll to the window,

Greeting the day,

I frown for a moment as I realize

That there is so much wrong here

On this planet.

There will be so many crimes today

So much pain,

(deathdestructionchaos)

Such suffering.

(icannotdoathingaboutit)

(myfault)

But, at the same time,

There will be something great.

Lives will begin and

Someone will fall in love and

Life will be lived.

I know I just need to do

Whatever I possibly can

To make sure that people are happy.

They need to know they're adequate

(theyneedtoknowtheyarenotlikeme)

And that they matter

(eventhoughidonot)

And that somebody cares for them,

That they will be listened to.

I need to radiate something good.

The floorboards creak

While I cross the room and

Look into the mirror.

(friendless)

(notprettyenough)

The smile comes easily enough,

The one thing that I hope others see.

Maybe it'll make a small change.

(notasingleone)

(noonewillnoticeorcare)

That's all I hope.

Crossing the threshold takes a minute

But I manage anyway.

As I head to the bathroom

And get ready for the day

(whatisthepoint)

The birds sing a song of motivation.

Reminding me that

I now need to put my feelings away.

It's finally time to radiate.
