The next day, Gracie got dressed and had breakfast hurriedly, then raced out the door, yelling s goodbye to her mum, and walked to Lacey's house. Lacey was already waiting on her front porch when Gracie arrived. She raced up to Gracie, giving her a tight hug.
"I can't believe you're coming! I'm so excited, it's going to be so much fun!" Gracie agreed, just as excited as her. They the spent most of the day talking excitedly, eager,y waiting for the end of the day so they could go shopping.
When's the bell finally rang, they both raced out of school and to the parking lot, where Gracie's mum was waiting for them, to take them to the shops. They then spent about an hour searching until Lacey found what she said was "the most perfect dress in the world!" Gracie had to agree that it was gorgeous. They were still talking as Gracie's mum drove them home, and as Gracie walked up to Lacey's door and said goodbye.
As was becoming the custom, Gracie practised levitating her plate full of dinner above the table. She could now hold it completely steady for at least five minutes. Gracie's mum smiled as she watched her daughter practise her magic all the time- she was clearly enjoying her lessons with Michelle.
Thursday came and went by in a hazy blur, and before Gracie knew it, it was already Friday. Lacey had agreed to come over to Gracie's house so they could get ready together. They put on their dresses, did their hair and put on a bit of makeup they had both stolen from their mothers drawers. By the time they were finished getting ready, they only had five minutes until they had to leave. Those five minutes were spent posing for Gracie's mum, who insisted on taking around two million photos of them, exclaiming they looked "simply gorgeous!" The girls both laughed at Gracie's mum, then, looking at the clock bad realising they really had to leave, they dragged the camera out of her hands, and dragged her into the car.
By the time they arrived at school, there were lots of students already there. Lacey spotted Tom and waved to him. He waved back at her. She then pointed excitedly when she saw Jake standing next to him, and nudged Gracie in the side, grinning. They then hopped out of the car and raced over to the boys. They both greeted the girls with large smiles. Lacey started talking to Tom, which left Gracie to talk to Jake. They were quite good friends, and often talked at school, but she suddenly felt nervous. Thankfully, Jake saved her.
"Wow, you look really nice!" He said, and she blushed, smiling shyly.
"oh, thanks. So do you!" He grinned. Just then, a teacher stood up on the stage at the front of the hall, clearing her throat loudly in a microphone. Eventually all the students quieted down, and look up at her.
"Ok everyone. Thank you very much for coming. First up we are going to be having our meals, so you can pick who you want to sit at a table with. Then we are going to have a DJ playing, and you're free to dance and have fun. Just make sure you stay within the cola area, so we can see you. But other than that, just have fun, we hope you have a great night!" At that a few people cheered. Then everybody walked over to a bunch of tables and sat with their friends. Gracie and Lacey sat with Jake and Tom and a few other of their friends. The meal was delicious, and everyone was full after it. They all stayed at the table for a while, before getting up to dance. Music was blasting through the speakers, and within minutes, practically everyone was on the dance floor. As Gracie got up to go dance with Lacey, Jake walked up to her.
"Do you wanna dance with me?" Gracie smiled, then nodded and took his offered hand. He then led her to the middle of the dance floor, where their other friends already where. They then spent the rest of the night dancing, and jumping up and down. Gracie knew that every muscle in her body would be aching tomorrow, but at that moment she just didn't really care. Everything in her life was going good at the moment. She was here, dancing with her crush and best friend, her evil step father was gone, and she was able to control her magic and use it whenever she wanted. She thought things couldn't get much better than this.
