Chapter 1:

"Never!" I yelled, hiding behind my sofa after chucking a pillow at the other side of the room. I will not! She's crazy if she thinks I'll do it!

"Leane..." my mother begged from the doorway with desperation. Psh... like that'll help her case.

"No."

"It won't kill you. It's just a ball!" She tried to persuade me and I peeked from behind the sofa to see my mom armed with my worst nightmare.

A make-up bag...

I went out of my hiding place to show I give up and faced my mom, groaning.

"But ma... That is gonna kill me. I mean, Lara and Leon aren't going. Why should I?" I was whining by the time I reached the last sentence but it did nothing to faze my oh so stubborn mother.

"Lara is down with the flu at your grandmother's and Leon is camping with his friends until the end of the weekend, Leane. The ball's tonight and we need at least 1 of our kids to accompany us. Don't make this any harder for the both of us."

I sighed as my shoulders sagged in defeat. My mom looked tired and I knew I had to go. These were the Royals.

Why are you going to the royal ball Leane? Yeah... I know you're probably thinking that but see here, they aren't just normal royals, they were werewolves and today is supposedly their son's 19th birthday and he is taking over the throne to become Alpha King which is supposedly a huge deal. Like, really! He will become the most powerful man in the planet and luckily (note the sarcasm), everyone in the country was invited and even if we didn't need to go, mom forced us to.

We never knew about the werewolves before but recently, about a few months ago, they have revealed their existence to us humans in peace. Since they did though, we agreed to treat them with respect and seriously, I have nothing against them. I have classmates who are weres and they are perfectly fine to me. Got a little temper though but it was tolerable.

"Fine." I grumbled and let her lead me into my room, scowling along the way.

" It's not gonna be that bad Leane. I promise you'll love it." She tried to change my opinion on this ball but even she sounded like she knew I'd never ever learn to be excited about this event.

If you've noticed, I'm not really...umm... A crowd lover you could say. And balls had LOTS of people. Throw in the fact it's a crowning ceremony, you get a place packed with people.

Really. What's the use for balls? What good can they do to me?

See... Nothing!

After 2 long and painful hours, I felt like a Barbie doll.

My short dark brown hair was studded with random flower pins and a light coat of make-up covered my face. A black strapless gown clung to my body easily and flared out at the bottom, slightly reaching the carpeted floor of my room and to tell you the truth, I looked awesome.

Well... better than I usually do anyway.

I blinked at my reflection in the mirror and I pursed my lips.

"Ma..." I started but my mother cut me off with a sharp glare.

I sighed heavily. "Fine."

My mom smiled slightly and she stepped beside me giving me a side hug.
