Chapter 1

I looked at my ID card for the hundredth time in the last thirty minutes.

Black Desert S1

I was actually being stationed for the war. I was actually going to fight. I was actually going to-.

"Next up!"

"Well that's me." I said as I stepped up and handed the soldier my ID card.

He entered my ID into the computer and typed something before handing me my card back and pointing me toward gate 8. When I got there another soldier ushered me into a debriefing room.

It was a rectangle room with a giant screen at the end and in the middle was a huge oval table that took up most of the room. At each seat there was a tablet with a name on it.

I went to mine and sat down. There were about 50 people in the room, some were talking but most were sitting there nervously.

"Hey there!" I almost jumped out of my chair from the sudden greeting.

I looked behind me to see who that had said that. He was a shortish man in his early 20's that had bright red hair which instantly stood out in the room. His hair matched his eyes almost perfectly and he seemed seemed so energetic... Mainly because he wouldn't stop hopping around.

"Hi..." I responded slowly not really sure what to do.

"What's your name?"

"Umm... Wi- I mean sliver."

"Silver? That's a weird name. My name is ding but everyone calls me Ruby."

"Bro stop terrorizing the newbies." I turned to see a guy that looked exactly like Ruby walk into the room carrying two coffees.

Well, they were the same except for everything red about Ruby was blue for him.

He walked over to us and handed his brother a coffee. "Hey there... Silver, I'm sapphire but everyone calls me Saph cuz it's easier." He held his hand out to me.

I took his hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you Saph."

Ruby ran off and started to excitedly talk to the other already nervous soldiers.

Saph just shook his head and went after him and I laughed. We waited for another 10 minutes before the screen lit up and we all turned to see a man in a black suit looking back at us.

There was a man standing next to the screen holding his tablet and scrolling through it. "Everyone is present."

The man on the screen nodded. "Good then let's begin."

Our tablets turned on and showed us a picture. The screen held a picture of each of us.

"Select yourself."

I clicked on my picture and it zoomed in and it showed me wearing what I currently was. Next to my picture was my ID card and to the other side was a place for me to select my gear.

"Now most of you will have the standard issue army suit. Division leaders will have their suit color changed accordingly. For those of you who are in group S1 you will be given the choice to make your suit however you wish."

I quickly choose the ODST helmet, the 6th gen shoulder guards, and the recon suit. It then asked for primary and secondary color so I put in silver and cobalt.

"You may also choose the weapons you would like."

I select the ma4k machine gun for my primary weapon and then I scrolled through the list of secondary weapons until one caught my eye. There was a choice for a single katana or dual wield katanas. I pressed those and looked back at the screen.

"Now we will move onto explaining where you will be stationed and why. Your goal will be to take back the near west side in the city of Chicago. You will be transported there by train to Union Station. Any questions?"

A soldier already dressed in black armor came forward from the back of the room. "When do we leave?"

The man on the screen smiled and two doors on either side of him opened. "Right now."

The meeting concluded as the screen went blank and we were ushered through the doors and into the vehicle bay.

We got onto the pelican as some of the other soldiers got onto warthogs and the transport bus.

There were 5 seats. I took the first one, the black armored soldier took the second, Saph and Ruby took the third and fourth seats, and the last seat was taken by a heavy gunner carrying a flamethrower.

We took off and I turned to the black armored soldier. "Excuse me, what's your name?"

"Sam."

I put my hand out. "Nice to meet you Sam." When she didn't do anything I pulled my hand back.

"Ok then."

I turned and put my headphones on. I scrolled through my music till I found the song I was looking for and pressed play. As it started playing I laid down and closed my eyes.

This is not a game now, nobody can save you
Spent up all your change and now your turn is done
We won't be afraid cause we're the ones who made you
Knock you out the frame, we won't stop until your gone
Game on

Somebody punched my arm.

"Time to go sleepy head."

I looked up to see Ruby pulling me up out of my seat. I yawned and followed him out of the pelican to a large building.

"Where are we?" I asked

"Weren't you listening? We're at the train station and we're loading into the train."

Oh yah. We walked through security and the mostly abandoned train station and to the train.

"We got 20 seconds till it leaves." He said as he started jogging and I also picked up the pace and we hopped into the train as it started pulling out of the station.

I sighed and looked into the box car and there was a crowd gathered.

I went up to Saph. "Hey what's going on?"

He looked at me. "Some of the soldiers challenged Sam to a fist fight."

This should be interesting.
