This school day went quick, which is odd because normally when I plan something for after school, time seems to purposefully fuck me over and slows down. This was not the case for today. I hop on my bike and drive to my house to get ready for the night. Once I get to my house, I walk inside and immediately head upstairs to get changed. I walk over to my closet, opening the door and seeing the outfit that I plan on wearing tonight. I remove the hanger from the rack and bring it with me to the washroom and place it on the towel hanger before disrobing and turning on the shower.
I step out of the shower room, dressed in a white button-up with long sleeves that I've rolled them up to my elbows, black slacks, and a black neck tie. I reach over and open up my medicine cabinet. I grab out the bottle of gel and place a small bit in my hand. I begin to style my hair in a way that looks somewhat classy, yet still, well me.
After I'm satisfied with how my hair looks, I walk back into my room, grab my phone, and check the time. It looks as though I still have quite a bit of time before I need to pick up Sam...unfortunately. I sit on my bed, fidgeting nervously. I feel so antsy for tonight, I can't seem to sit still. I feel my phone buzz in my hand.
'I'm excited for tonight.' It's from Sam. I find myself unconsciously smiling at it. I don't know how much longer I can wait for this date tonight.
'Yeah, I am too. I need your address though,' I respond to her text.
I decide to take my mind off of later tonight with some video games. They always seem to make time go by a lot quicker. I place the disk into the slot and push the button on the controller to start said game. After about five matches, I check the time on my phone. While doing this, I notice a new message from Sam. I open it up see what I had requested for along with the message, 'Come up to the door when you pick me up. My parents wanna meet the boy who's taking me out on a date.' I shrug as I input the address into the GPS on my phone.
I decide that it was probably time for me to leave, so I stand from my bed, turning off the console and heading down to my bike. I grab my helmet off of the shelf that I always put it on and walk outside.
I pull up to where my GPS told me to go and parked out front. I remove my helmet and pull out the camera on my phone to assess the damage down to my hair thanks to my helmet. Luckily, my hair wasn't messed up.
'Damn, how strong is that gel?'
I walk up to the front door and knock, awaiting my date for the night. A few moments later, the door opens. I expect to see the face of the girl I'd had arranged to go on a date with tonight. Instead, I'm greeted by the face of a man no older than forty.
"Well, hello there, young man," he says with a very slight smile. "I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, telling by the way you're dressed, you're my daughters date tonight." He steps out of the way and gestures me to walk in. I follow him into the house.
"Your house is very lovely," I compliment, looking around and taking notice to how beautiful of a home I'm standing in.
"Thank you, young man," I hear an unfamiliar feminine voice say. I turn to face the direction of the origin of the voice to see, my guess, Sam's mother. The two take me into a room with a few couches and sit me down. I'm guessing the want to interrogate me and get to know me as Sam told me in her text. The moment I sit down, I'm bombarded with questions about who I am, what my grades in school, what grade I'm in...etc. etc. After answering close to a hundred questions, they sit back against the couch and smile to each other.
"Looks like our daughter is finally out of that phase," the man says, looking towards his wife.
"If you don't mind me asking, what phase would that be?" I question. They're faces turned to that of a serious and nervous expression.
