The Runaway

*Starting with Elise's P.O.V.*

"I'll Go with you, Just for a couple days. I Just have to find someone to watch my sister's and call my um, family.". He smiled so hard. It felt like my heart melted. "They can come with us." He said. I looked at him, and everything that seemed to be wrong wasn't anymore. In that moment my world was perfect. "Okay" I said with a smile on my face. "meet me after school, bring y'all's over night bags, i'll drive.". I looked up at him and smiled , "okay Kieth, Thank you." "For what ma ?" "for this.", I got in my car and went to pack some things for our trip, I called our "Mom" and told her me and the girls would be coming later , we just needed a little time together before we make the big move, of course she was fine with it and said see you soon and hung up.

She's going with me. She's really going. I was happy, I ain't never been this happy before. What the hell is wrong with me ? I'm not exactly understanding my feelings right now, but they feel good. I walked in the building with a smile on my face looking down at the ground thinking it all over in my head.  My boys was waiting for me at my locker . "look at this nigga looking all goofy." "aye bruh leave me alone" i said laughing. "i'm leaving for a couple days bruh, i'll be back." "where you going ? who you going with ? what a coincidence, i heard Elise is leaving too." "bruh shut up and mind ya business." i said laughing once again, we started cracking jokes and then the bell rung, I headed to class excited for later. i haven't been this happy since I was a kid. I'ma show her what a real nigga is. 

I was actually happy yet nervous to go with Kieth, but I know I may sound stupid, but I trust him, I had everything ready by 10 a.m. they girls were still at school, and so was Keith, so I ran by my job and picked up my last check, and quit. I waited for what seems like hours until I dozed off, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing and I saw it was my sister's school, mom must have put my number on the contact list last minute, i realized it was 3:10 ! I was late picking the girls up from school, I rushed over , grabbed the girls and rushed back to gardener. Kieth was talking to his "Bros when he seen me pull into the parking lot. I saw him dap it up with the guys and leave, he headed straight towards my car and walked to the driver side where I was. 

What seemed like forever finally ended, I saw Elise pull up and I told my boys I had to go , I think they had the idea of where I was going. I walked over to Elise and went to the driver side, she looked at me and smiled, i noticed her little sisters in the back had dozed off, they looked like little angels, it made me smile. "what do you want Kieth" she said giggling. I smiled and told her to scoot over, she climbed over into the passenger seat and looked at me " Get in, i hope you know how to drive, don't mess up my baby." she said laughing. "girl, shuddd up . I'm not gonna mess up ya car." I said laughing . I pulled out of the parking lot and hit the highway, I really did have my intermediate, that's why I offered to drive . We talked for hours, she didn't once bring up my foster family or the drug dealing part of my life, she didn't even ask me where we was going. She trust me, that was the best feeling I ever had in my life. A couple hours into the drive it got really silent. 

"Kieth?" "Yeah ma ?" " What does this make us ?" we had been having such a good time laughing, and talking, but it had been on my mind. "Um, well,  guess we a thing huh ?" "So does this mean , Your mine ?" "Yeah I guess it does, and I guess that means your mine." "Yeah, i guess it does" I said with the biggest smile's on my face. it was going on 6:30 and the sun began setting. I looked back and the girls were still knocked. I grabbed a blanket and placed it on them. "Kieth, I know this might be hard to answer, you don't have to if you don't want to, but ..." I hesitated. "What happened to your parents ? Your real parents ?" "He gripped the steering wheel and then loosened his grip, and let out a deep sigh. "They where killed in car wreck by a drunk driver." , I heard the pain in his voice, "I was four, I was in the car happy as could be, we were going to gattitown or some shit like that, and my mom and dad were talking, and she looked back at me and smiled, and before she could say anything.., before I could say anything, the cars collided, my mom went flying out the window shield while me and my dad were in the car as it began rolling. I was screaming and crying and the front end of the car was crushed, I saw my dad bleeding out, trying to reach for me, I remember people screaming and yelling for help, and then I blacked out, I woke up in a hospital, fighting for my life, there was a tube down my throat, an IV in my arm, and my parents no where to be found. I started gagging and they took the tube out, as I started to get better I started wondering why My mom and dad had yet to make an appearance, this lady, a social worker was there always tho, finally I got the courage to ask about my mom and dad, and she sat me down and told me that the doctors did everything they could to save them, but they didn't make it." 

I was staring straight ahead but from the corner of my eye I could see tears rolling down Elise's face and she was looking down, as if she felt bad for asking, she grabbed my hand and laced her finger's in between mine, and we sat their quietly, the sun finally set, and darkness began to overcome us.
