Real summary:
Every day, the sun rises, and every night, it sets. Until one day, the sun stops moving entirely, at noon exactly. The sun's stop puzzles even the most smart scholars, though they notice that it slowly seems to be moving closer to them. Those with the most money are paying to get off of the planet and into space, away to another solar system. Those without the money to escape are forced to take their chances on the slowly burning planet, seeking shade anywhere they can. The problem is that the sun is burning up all wooden, brick, and even steel structures, so shade is rare and prized. The only thing protected from the sun is, oddly, stone and glass.
Nicholas and Katrina, two close friends orphaned by the SunStop, gather a group of nine people who are strong, skilled, and capable of still thinking for themselves, unlike some who have gone insane from the heat. They set off to find a cure for the heat, and carry as many supplies as they can find, stealing and living like bandits. When an old man tells them that they must split up and collect nine items from several different parts of the earth, they know that that is the only cure.
Notes:
- Katrina is one year younger than Nicholas; Nicholas is 20
- when items are brought together, they make staff and cure earth, but do not bring back lost lives
- Antarctica is spared and has an normal temp like Seattle, not too cold
Suggestion of places where staff parts are: Dubai, Split, Antarctica, Perth, Boston, Cancun, The Amazon Rainforest, La Paz, and Whitehorse
