Interesting job

Strangers

This is my first story probably sucks but I decided to give it a shot takes place at a terrible military base

Two men were standing watch waiting for nothing because nothing ever comes out here in the dessert. One man was named William went by glory the other frank went by riffraff or riff for short.
"So." Said William
"So what?" Asked frank
"So what do we do here." Asked William
"What are you new?" Frank snickers
"Actually yeah."
"Oh. Well you see some days we stand here talk and wait for nothing to come some days we're in the tower talking and waiting for nothing to come and some days we just stay in the base and do absolutely nothing." Frank said getting a little mad
"So what is the purpose?" William asked
"I don't know maybe there's a nuclear reactor or maybe some plans." William answered
The commander named Kaiser walked over "are you two focusing on the task at hand
"What task on hand." Frank asked angered "all we ever do is wait around and talk, talking is the most productive thing we do here."
"Are you sassing me?" Kaiser asked
"Umm excuse me sir." William asked quietly
"No I'm kissing your ass." Frank had said
"Excuse me?" William had said loudly
"Don't you talk to me like that." Kaiser shouted
"Hey!" William shouted grabbing their attentions "there's a supply truck coming." He said knowing he had grabbed their attention
Kaiser had realized the truck was coming "good job newbie you're doing better than frank here." Frank mumbled something under his breath. Kaiser pretended not to hear

5 hours later
"You were right." William said breaking their hour long silence
"About what?"
"About how all we do is stand and talk."
"Told ya."
