Scott's P.O.V

I don't remember the last time I've seen the light.

Desmond's P.O.V

Kolby and I walk home together, not before waving to Dean and Ash. I felt all giddy inside when Ash cutely smiled, my stomach was now the home to millions of butterflies.

"If your mom doesn't mind, maybe we should play some video games!" I suggest with excitement.
"Sure... sounds fūñ." Kolby responds, he's a few steps ahead of me so I can't see his expression.

When we get to his house, there's no sense of life in it. It looks like no one's been living here for weeks. Kolby unlocks the door and turns around, gesturing at the door like a butler would.

"Come in~"

Scott's P.O.V

There is nothing but the horrible shade of darkness. And I can feel in my chest that something's wrong, something's happening...
And I can't do anything about it.

Xav's P.O.V

Today felt like an odd day. It felt like one of those days where I'd look back on the past, and at what I've done. I was a stupid kid, who couldn't see the different of fun and going to far.

I always thought that Desmond would replace me. It was what all my other friends said.

"He'll become more spoiled than you."
"Your parents will love him more."
"You're being replaced."

I was dumb. And jealous. And evil. I wasn't who I was supposed to be. I shake my head and try to ignore the thoughts, I knew today would be one of those days. I was walking to McDonald's with a bounce in my step. I wasn't going to let my thoughts push me down.

"Young man, come here~" The air whispered, I spun around to the sound and saw a frail old man, his wrinkles spread his face like freckles would.
"Who are you?" I instinctively ask, walking over to the man's small table of knick knacks.
"Who I am doesn't matter," He says. "What you need to ask is how you can save your brother." My eyes widen, and I wonder how he knows.
"Wha- How?-" I sputter, trying to get the words to reach my lips.
"Your brother is close to losing his life, and you are the only one who can save him." He informs me. He then places a small wooden cross with a white jewel in the centre in the palms of my hand. "Take this. Do not ask any questions. And save your brother, you'll instinctively know what to do."

I want to protest, how can such a measly looking cross save my brother? The old man throws me into the waves of people and I'm pushed away. I use all of my effort to go against the crowds, but they just stomp over me. Now that I think about it, I felt something odd about the way Desmond's been acting lately...
Maybe he's right.

I run towards a possible place where he can be. I hope he's there.

Desmond's P.O.V

I gathered up all my clothes and stuffed them into the suitcase. Kolby is already setting up the Xbox. He's placed chips, popcorn, and pop on the table. I'm not feeling rather hungry nor thirsty right now, so I just sit down beside him. He passes me one of the controllers and starts the game. It's incredibly fun and challenging, but I can't help but notice that Kolby will often glance at me.

"Are you ok Kolby?" I ask.
"Just peachy." He responds back... he'd never respond like that.
"Are you sure?" I ask again, leaning over.
"I'm sure," He says a bit irritated.

I decided not to ask any more questions.

Scott's P.O.V

There's a burning in my chest. I grab at my shirt and squeeze it tightly. Someone's in trouble, someone needs me. The darkness is going darker than black, which is impossible. But that's what it feels like, a completely different shade. Everything's hot, and I'm screaming, though I can't hear myself.

"Let me out! Let me out!" I scream, which is at least what I think I'm saying. "Wake me up! Wake up!"

Hurry up and wake up already!

Desmond's P.O.V

Kolby's pinned on top of me, he holds the knife high above his head. My eyes widen in fear. What is he thinking?

"Time to die, Dessie." He says, ready to plunge the knife into my chest.
"Wait!" I scream, pushing against his chest. "Who is this?"

Kolby stops, his grip on the knife loosens.

"It's me, Kolby. And you need to die." He explains.
"You're not Kolby." I say, my eyebrows furrow. "The Kolby I know wouldn't do something like this... he has a heart!"

I pushed "Kolby" back, he stumbled backwards and clicked his tongue.

"Curse this stupid, little and weak body." He curses under his breath.
"Get out of Kolby's body!" I scream, wrestling the puppet in front of me.

Our hands are intertwined with each other's as we push each other back. There's moments when I can push him far away, but other moments when he has me right where he wants me. It feels like centuries, and the knife in Kolby's mouth inches closer and closer. Puppet Kolby smirks, knowing that I'm about to give in. Out of nowhere there's a giant smash, then a thud. The long black-haired girl that I saw at the cemetery leaks out of his body. Kolby collapses onto me, passed out. I place him on the floor gently and check what the commotion was.

Xav's hands were on his knees, he was panting heavily. He looked up and his eyes immediately brightened when he saw me.

"D-Desmond!" He exclaims, "I found you!"

He's smiling so widely, it's making me smile too. Lily swoops in front of me with her knife.

"Now your brother can watch you die." She cackles, licking the blade before swinging it at me.

I lunge back but trip over the bag of clothes. I hit my head first and groan in pain, when my vision clears, I notice Lily's hair swaying. A bit too swaying. The strands grow sharp, I guess she'd rather have a Desmond-kabob. This is it, I'm going to die. Xav stands in front, and I watch in horror as the hair impales him.

"Xav!" I scream, tears start streaming out.
"Hope this works..." Xav wheezes, he takes out a wooden cross and holds it in front of her. "I don't really know what to say... um... be gone!"

Lily shrieks in pain, her body slowly disintegrates. When her last piece of hair disappears, Xav collapses. I run over and shake his body desperately.

"Xav! Xav!" I sob, shaking over and over again.

His eyes open halfway, giving me one good look at his dull eyes. He smiles weakly, and coughs a bit of blood.

"I... I used to hate you." He wheezes. "I was such a fool... I was never able to see the real you."
"No, don't..." I sob. "You're not going to die!"

"Goodbye Desmond."

"Goodbye."

... I really don't know what to say.

I don't know why I did this, and I don't know how such a tiny little cross repelled Lily
