POV: Tess lee Gray

12:00PM I read the clock, time to leave. I picked up my jansport Galaxy backpack and slipped it over both of my shoulders. I walked over to my door and twisted the nob slowly. The door creaked quietly and I stopped dead in my tracks. Taking a deep breath I turned around and checked to make sure I had everything.  After looking over my room for hopefully the last time, I stepped out into the hall way and shut my door. I lightly ran down the hall and took a sharp left turn, right where I ran into Clarissa yesterday. Thankfully she wasn't there or anyone else. Praying that no one was down stairs I quickly went down the stairs and turned towards the bathroom. Everything was going smoothly and falling perfectly into place. I grabbed the bathroom handle and pulled it open. Stepping onto the tile I went straight into the last stall and spotted the window. This was great. I'm so close to escaping, yet there's so many steps to complete till I know I'm safe and away from here. I've always had a hard time figuring out what "so close, but yet so far" means, but now I know. I got onto the toilet and unlocked the window slowly lifting it up. I swung off my backpack and dropped it out the window. Lifting a foot up I swung it over the edge and lifted my self up and out. The dark sky was filled with clusters of stars. Breathing in the fresh air relaxed me. Spinning around and closing the window I though about why I never did this sooner. Luckily this window has been broken for the past couple mouths and locks whenever you push it it. I turned back around grabbed my backpack and took off running into the woods. Now I wish I would have brought a flashlight with me. Even though I probably wouldn't use it from such a bright light I might get noticed and end up back in the orphanage. Turning down different areas in the woods i listened to my heavy breathing and the sound of twigs snapping and leaves crushing. I spotted a small light up ahead and decided it's best if I sleep and hide for the night. I walked a little closer to the light and found a tree nearby. Swinging my leg over the lowest branch grabbing another with my hand I pulled my self up and sat against the tree trunk. Brushing my blistered hands on my jeans I took a deep breath and told myself I did it. Silence then filled the woods. An owl  hooted making me jump up a bit. I fell off the branch landed on the hard floor with a thud. Pushing my self off my hands I looked around and everything was blurred. Slowly Falling back everything became quieter and darker.  Leaving me laying in the middle of the woods lonely and afraid.

I shifted my sleeping position and started to wake up. It was 5:00AM and was still dark. It was silent outside besides a few birds here and there. The silence felt deadly in the morning. Almost as if everything stood still, time froze. The sun was beginning to rise and I was getting ready to go on a morning walk though the woods.
Today my wolf Mason was going crazy. Nothing would calm him down.
I made my way to my bathroom and turned the faucet on and rinsed my face off drying it off with a towel I than Quickly went down stairs. Combing a hand though my dark brown hair,  I grabbed a pair of shoes and stepped out the door to feel the cool breeze against my face.
