"You know that place between sleep and awake? The place where you can still remember dreaming? Thats where I'll always love you.
Thats where I'll be waiting."
~Peter Pan
*•*Shanes POV*•*
I can't believe this.
Stupid shitty courtesy car.
Well I guess it's better than walking.
I parked outside of Joey's apartment and beeped the horn a few times to let him know I was here, a few seconds later he came running out trying to slip on his varsity jacket. He gave me a confused look, before opening the passenger door.
Joeys: what's with the car?
Shane: my cars getting re-painted so they gave me a courtesy car.
Joey: no offense, but its a pretty shit car.
Shane: tell me about it.
We sat in silence for a bit as I drove away, the only sound being the light tapping of my fingers on the steering wheel. I decided to break the silence but the regretted it after when my voice sounded out of place and cracked halfway through the sentence.
Shane: I didn't know you had a varsity jacket.
Joey: It's an old one from high school, I'm surprised it still fits me.
I just nodded hoping to go back into the awkward silence we were in before. Joey obviously wasn't comfortable with the silence as much to my dismay he spoke again.
Joey: I can't believe it. Six whole months.
He then repeated six whole months but this time in a whisper, and started mumbling incoherent words under his breath. I pulled the car into a rooftop parking lot, and got out of the car and walked round to Joey's side and opened his door for him. He smiled and took my hand I held out for him, I shut the door behind him pressing a button on the car remote which popped open the boot. pulling out a chilly bin, a few blankets I stole from my mom and a large flashlight because candles were to mainstream (also I couldn't be bothered going and buying some).
I set up the largest blanket in the middle of the deserted parking lot and dropped the chilly bin and flashlight next to it. We wouldn't need the flashlight for awhile though, as the sun had just started setting.
Shane: Joey! come here!
Joey scurried over and sat right next to me and folded his arms in an attempt to get warm, I draped one of the smaller blankets over his shoulders. He gave me a small smile and pulled it tighter over his body, I opened the chilly bin and pulled out the food I had previously packed.
Shane: I wanted to take us somewhere where we could be alone, and not somewhere too cliche like in those romance movies. Although actually this is still pretty cliche.
Joey: it's beautiful.
Joey whispered and looked off into the sunset a smile grabbing at the corners of his mouth.
Shane: hungry? I didn't know what to bring so I jut got what my mom told me to, which I guess is kinda cheating.
Joey: what did you bring?

An hour later we had finished our meal and were watching as the last streaks of pink sunlight left the sky, I hugged Joey and whispered 'I'll be back soon' in his ear before getting in the car and starting it up. I turned it around so the headlights shone on our backs, I left the headlights on but turned the car off so we still had light, and we could see what we were doing.
