The next morning I woke up, walked into the bathroom and my hair looked like a birds nest so after I showered and dried off I put on my fox long sleeved button up and some light blue jeans with my tie dye converse and fish tail braided my hair. Jogging down the stairs and into the kitchen I witnessed a chaotic mess, Kyle-James had decided to try and make breakfast for everyone and failed miserably batter covered the cabinets and floor, juice is spilled all over the counter and in the middle stood a panicking Kyle, gripping his dark brown hair and shaking his head.

What happened in here Kyle? I asked stepping into the kitchen.

I tried making pancakes from scratch using moms old recipe. I dont know what happened, the mixer went berserk. Will you help me clean it up and start over Mel? He pleaded accidentally putting his hand in some of the juice on the counter.

Sure. I shrugged.

It took an hour to clean all of the juice and pancake mix off of the counters and cabinets, Tanner walked in and took one look at us and left laughing around the thirty minute mark.

After the cleaning I made pancakes and Kyle-James cut up some fruit and set the table for the three of us. While I was cooking the last pancake Kyle went to go get Tanner. I set down the plate of pancakes as the boys entered the kitchen.

Tanner, why dont you try to get a girlfriend man? Kyle-James asked.

Because I have responsibilities and you guys to take care of. He answered while grabbing a pancake.

Lets face it, Tan, youre getting old, you need to settle down now before all the good girls are taken. Youre thirty-one already any longer and there wont be many girls to choose from. Kyle said.

Tanner took us in at the age of sixteen, he balanced school and a small job. We had a babysitter until we were old enough to go to school and when Tanner graduated from High School we moved somewhere new. He had a few girls he went out with but none of them stuck around.

Maybe youre right. I wonder if Emmery Braise is still single. I heard she owns her moms old bakery now and its a real hot spot in town. Tanner said.

Maybe you can go there tomorrow and buy us some cupcakes. I suggested grabbing another pancake and some fruit then topping it with blueberry syrup.

You just want cupcakes, Melody. Tanner stated.

Yes. I said after taking a bite of my pancake.

Mr. and Mrs. Kapra and their children are supposed to be here for dinner at five tonight. Im going to buy some pizzas from town around four thirty I should be back on time to meet them. I will try and drop by the bakery to pick up some cupcakes. Tanner said.

After cleaning up Tanner went to go check and see if the old lawn mower works and Kyle and I went to tend to the horses. We were hoping to get a few chickens and maybe a cow later on when were settled into the house and everything calms down.

Cupid, Minx and Skyland are well adjusted to their enclosed spaces. After we cleaned out their stalls and groomed them we gave them some fresh food and water and left to go check on Tanners progress with the lawnmower.

Tanner had the lawnmower going and was testing out the blades on the grass behind our house. As we came closer he turned off the lawnmower and smiled at us.

Luckily it works. Kyle if I cut the first half of the pasture will you do the rest while I go pick up food later? Tanner asked.

Kyle answered with a simple nod.

I took my phone out of my back pocket and checked my text messages. I have one from an unknown number.
