Lucas:
She didn't talk for days. She didn't eat, she didn't drink, and didn't talk. Well, not to me anyway. She talked to the nurses when I took her for her checkups. And, she didn't even move in her wheelchair. I had left for school at 7.15am and she didn't move until I came home at 4pm. But her sleeping was bad. I felt awful for her. I had been staying in the room beside her bedroom and I could hear her crying. The first night, I was really scared after I heard a big bang. I sprinted into her room to find her on the floor. I helped her into bed but she couldn't look at me. The same thing happened for the next few nights, so I brought the bed into her room.
I realised the first night I was in her room that she was talking. She was asleep, crying, but she was also speaking. It was the same line, over and over again. Come back! Please! I miss you! I didn't mean to! Help me! I hate my life! for hours. I had also set some stuff up beside her bed so she couldn't roll out. And it worked.
Two weeks after she had awoken from the coma, we went back to school. I got her up and changed and left her eating breakfast so I could get ready. I looked at my phone as it buzzed.
Minkus:
Riley and I are outsideMe:
Okay, coming now hold onI wheeled Maya outside to see Farkle with the boot open already and Riley sitting in the backseat, waiting for Maya. I smiled at my friends, at how loyal they are, how caring, how helpful. I lifted Maya into the car and went to put the wheelchair in the boot.
"So, Maya, you excited to be back? You'll get to go to your favourite class; art!" I heard Riley say, but there was no reply. I turned around to look at her, but she was looking down. Something was happening on the middle seat. Maya was holding Riley's hand, but wasn't looking at her. It put me in a good mood.
But that didn't last. First period was history.
"Alright. The Great Depression!" Mr Matthews exclaimed. Riley's eyes widened and Farkle gave me a glance. Maya put her hand up and Mr Matthews nodded. She wheeled out of the room and didn't look back. About five minutes passed and Riley turned round to me as Mr Matthews faced the board.
"Lucas!" She hissed.
"What?"
"Aren't you going to find her?" She looked at me like I had killed someone. I raised my hand and Mr Matthews obviously heard us so he let me leave. I knew where to find her as it was her favourite place.
I found her out in the courtyard. She was staring off into the distance like always but I knew I had to be more firm.
"Maya. Come back to class now. You can't just leave every time you want to. I'm taking you to class." And I wheeled her away.
💮I also thought that she would be a bit happier in art, the last class of the day. I was wrong. At the end, we had to set our stuff up at the front. I set my painting of Texas beside Riley's purple cat and Farkle's "I'm the leader of the world!" drawing. Maya wheeled up and put her charcoal drawing down. As she wheeled away, I took a look at it with Farkle and Riley.
It was the moment that she was hit by the taxi. You can see the pain on her face, the speed the taxi was going at and the horror on my face. You could almost feel her pain through this picture. Riley had tears going down her cheeks and Farkle was comforting her. I turned round to look for Maya, but she had gone."Guys. She's gone." I said.
"Come on, we have to find her!" Riley ran out of school with us following in pursuit.
We found her back near her apartment, but we just drove on past because we didn't want to say anything. When she arrived back, she just went straight down the corridor to her bedroom. Riley and Farkle left after 5 minutes because they had homework, so I went in to talk to Maya. I found her staring out onto the roads below, following every taxi that went past. I left her to watch whilst I made dinner.
💮I was watching Maya in the living room as the door was knocked. I ran out to get it, and was surprised to see who I saw.
"Josh! What are you doing here?"
"I came to apologise. Is she in?"
"Yeah. In the living room." He pushed past me and sped into Maya. Maya didn't look at him but I knew she was surprised to see him.
"Look, Maya, I am so sorry for leaving you as soon as you woke up. I was scared about what would happen to you and I was sad about the baby. I never wanted to leave you but that was a big mistake that I made." He took her hands in his hands. "I am so sorry!"
"Get out." She whispered, her voice wavering.
"What?" He was taken aback.
"You heard her Josh. I'm sorry, but you'll have to leave." I stared at him. I walked him to the door and went back into Maya. Tears were streaming down her cheeks and I wiped them away. This was the first time she had looked at me since the accident. I looked into her sad, sad eyes and I felt so bad for her.
"Wha- What did I do wrong?" She cried.
"Nothing. You did nothing at all."
Sorry for not posting on here or on Instagram, I have felt sick for the last few days so I couldn't post!
