Warning! Strong language!
Also, please note that I am quite bored of this bit of the story so I will be skipping on to a more dramatic part. As well as that, this part will be very sad. So sorry if this makes you sad.

Josh:

I had been getting on with Lucas from that night. We weren't the best of friends, but we were friends. Not anymore, of course. But we were.

Maya:

I was about 27 weeks pregnant. Lucas had taken me out for a smoothie. It was the middle of winter, my favourite time of the year. We had just left the smoothie shop and were crossing the road. I couldn't cross as fast as him, but I must have been about 10 steps behind. As I ran across the road (green lights for people crossing), I giggled and took a sip of my drink. I looked up at Lucas as he screamed.

"Maya! Watch out!" As my head hit the ground, everything went black.

💮

Lucas:

We sat in the hospital room day and night. It was just Josh, Maya and I. It was about 2am so Riley and Farkle couldn't be there as they had to go to school. I looked at Maya's helpless body, and tears came to my eyes. This is all my fault. This is all my fault. But, it wasn't. I couldn't have done anything. Josh paced about the room. He had been doing this for the past 4 days.

"It's going to be okay. Phew. Just breathe. In and out. In and out." He told himself. We jumped to face Maya as she groaned.

Maya:

My arms were really heavy and I was in a lot of pain. I groaned as I tried to lift my arms but I couldn't. My eyelids opened themselves and I saw Josh and Lucas staring at me. They ran up to either side of me and took a hand each. Josh looked extremely nervous but Lucas was trying to stay calm.

"Maya. We have to tell you something." Lucas said.

"You were knocked over by a taxi that didn't stop the day you went to get smoothies. It ran right over the top of you and kept driving on. You were knocked out on the spot. The man who did it has been taken to jail and will have to do loads of time. Unfortunately, your legs had to be amputated." Josh told me as I looked down at my legs and I realised that's why I couldn't feel my toes. "You have been in a coma for 4 days and haven't woken up since." I looked down but out of the corner of my eye I saw them nod at each other.

"Maya? There's something else." I stared at Lucas. "When it hit you... Your baby died instantly. You aren't pregnant anymore and you aren't going to have a child." Josh stormed out of the room as I burst into tears. But, Lucas stayed with me. Tears were slowly rolling down his cheeks, too. I couldn't lift my arms so I just sat there, balling my eyes out. Lucas wiped them away and gave me a hug.

Lucas:

She sat there crying until around 6am. She couldn't breathe very well, so the nurses gave her some gas and air. Riley and Farkle came in around 6.30am. Riley was in a terrible state as well. They stayed for about 5 minutes before Farkle motioned for me to come outside.

"She has stayed at my house every night after the accident. She's been so worried. I'm not happy about Maya's situation, but I can't help but smile that she's been staying at mine." He blushed, looking at the ground.

"Way to go, man!" I slapped him on the back. It felt like normal times. Riley came out to join us.

"Where's Josh?" She asked, peering round us.

"He left after I told her about the baby."

"Okay. When can she be released?" Inquisitive Riley was back. I had missed her.

"Tomorrow if she wants to be." I looked at my watch. "You better leave for school or you'll be late." They went back in to say goodbye and left for school. I sat back down in my chair and watched her. She just sat, staring out the window. I had always thought that she had an okay life, but now I'm starting to see why she always says she's broken.

                            💮

Lucas:

"Hello Maya. Hello again Lucas. I am Dr Zay Babineaux and this is my assistant, Dr Isadora Smackle. We are here to make sure that you are well to go home!" He smiled at us. I smiled back, but Maya was still watching out the window.

It was the day that we were taking Maya home. Mr Matthews said it was alright that Riley and Farkle could be excused, so they were coming to help me take her home. We were all very excited, but she didn't show any emotion. I had been told that I could take a week off just to get her settled back in to her apartment. I snapped back into reality as Dr Babineaux asked me to go outside.

"What's wrong?" I was suddenly afraid that she couldn't go home.

"Well, two reasons but mean and cause the same thing; first of all is that she isn't talking, and I've noticed a lot of other signs of depression, obviously after the loss of her baby. Secondly, I've just sent Dr Isadora in there to see if she will talk to her." I frowned, but he came up to me and gave me a pat on my back. "She'll be fine, don't worry." He gave me a grin before walking away to his station 5 or    6 meters down. I patiently waited outside the room for Dr Isadora to come out. As soon as the door opened, I jumped up and Dr Zay came back. She whispered something in his ear, and he walked off.

"Lucas, I have been doing a study on Maya Hart, and as Dr Zay told you, she does have depression. She was able to talk to me in there, so maybe if you just wait she will talk to you." She came even closer to me. "She says now you and Josh don't have to worry who the father is. And you two don't have to worry about getting along." And like that, she strolled off.

Sorry guys for not posting yesterday, I was really tired and I didn't finish it so here it is! Btw I am 100% not making fun of depression. It's another serious topic that you shouldn't joke about. But thanks for reading anyway!
