After exploring for a while, you run into a monster named Napstablook. You decide to move him with force and then you get into a battle with him. Even though you know you don't want to fight him, you know you have to. Your friend is excited about this, but you just want to make peace with him. Instead of fighting him, you decide to try to chear him up. After a few times of chearing up, he shows you a move he calls dapper blook. You think it looks so cool, but your friend thinks it looks awful. You finally spare him after having him cheared up, and he says, "I come here because nobody passes by here that often" and then disappears into thin air. Your friend was mad that you didn't try to kill him, but you are overwelmed with joy that he didn't have to die.
You pass through more of the ruins, where you find spikes blocking your way, but you also see 6 patches of red flowers. You fall through one and your friend falls through a different one, but niether of you found any lever. When you walk a little to your left, you run into a monster named Vegetoid. You decide to act and choose eat greens. You dodge all of the veggies it throws at you and you decide to hit spare. Your friends face had a mad expression on it, but you just ignored it. You go to the flower patch next to it, and find the lever. You hear a clicking sound in your right ear. Your friend ran in front of you and went through the passage way. You followed them and both of you poped up near the flower beds. You see the spikes are down and you walk through, but your friend takes the lead.
