Dave's POV

I was being pushed and shoved downstairs when the fire alarm rang. Nobody was supposed to use elevators during a fire because something could go wrong. Everyone was screaming and shouting and arguing and sweaty. I looked around in the sea of people for my brother, "James!" I called out but nobody seemed to answer except for another random guy whose name was James also.

"Has anyone seen my brother James?!" I yelled.

Some blonde girl with glasses shoved her way to me, "I saw him go back to his office because he said he forgot something." She yelled through the noise.

I nodded and thanked her as I ran the opposite way pushing people out of my way. Somebody's got to be a hero.

I opened the door from the entrance of the stairs when a police officer stopped me, "Sorry sir, we have to evacuate everyone until we find out what's wrong."

"My brother is still there!" I yelled.

"We will take care of it." He spat.

I huffed and barged my way through the police officers as they chased me. I ran as fast as I could to James' office.

I pushed the doors open to see James hands around Aria's neck- chocking her. As soon as James saw me he dropped her to the ground and I ran to her.

I kneeled down, "Shit Aria are you okay?!" I asked worriedly. "James what the fuck are you doing?! Don't ever touch her again you fucking dick!" I shouted angrily at him. Aria's face was pale and she was breathing heavily. I heard a whimper from behind me and saw Tyler tied up to a chair, "James what the hell is going on?! Why are you doing this?!"

"It's all her fault! It's all her fault!" He kept repeating and anger filled my body as the police officers who chased my barged in.

"What's going on here?" He asked.

I gulped, "Officer take him, he abused my girlfriend and her- friend!"

"What? No! Dave, buddy come on! Don't do this!" He pleaded as the officers hand cuffed him and the others untied Tyler. "Dave! Dave! What are you going to do with out me? Huh?! You have no money! You need me! Tell them I didn't do anything!" He fought.

I shook my head, "Officers, get him out of here." I said without making eye contact with him. They took him away as he kept fighting and calling my name. Tyler came up to me and Aria, "It's okay man, I got it from here." I said. He nodded and left me alone with Aria. She had a beat up nose that had blood gushing out and her right eye was swollen. Her small, beautiful, fragile body rested in my arms as I silently cried, "I'm sorry Dave." She said weakly.

I shook my head and moved the hair out of her face, "No baby. I'm sorry, I wasn't here to protect you- I wasn't a hero."

"But you're my mine. And I'd rather.. and I'd rather have you than any hero." She whispered as her breathing started dying down.

I leaned in and kissed her passionately, "I love you so much." I smiled. "You're the most toughest and most beautiful girl I've ever laid my eyes on- and I'm glad to have you in my life."

Before she could say anything else her eyes slowly closed.

"Aria?" I croaked.

"Aria."

"Aria!" I cried. "Aria wake up."

After that paramedics rushed in and took her.
