A tear slides slowly down my cold cheek, as my fangs bite into the small animal I hold before me. The taste of blood sends a sting of a burning sensation through my face, burning my eyes and I close them. I feel power, only traces, but I feel it in my veins as I release the animals to the ground. With tears in my eyes, and a blurry vision, I watch it limp away.
Then I start to walk again, familiar sights of trees surround me, and I'm at the boarding house, Stefan's house. I can barely walk now, when I try to step closer to the house I feel the power drain from me. My senses pick something up, but aren't strong enough to let me say.
Stefan...Stefan.
Then suddenly my head stops throbbing, and my body pulls enough strength together to run towards the house, pushing open the door and running into Damon.
"Jesus Elena" he says, holding his hands to me. "You can't just be running around like this." He pushes past me, and towards the bourbon bottle.
"Stefan, stefan. He's..." I pant, "he's locked away, underground about a mile out of town."
"You walked from there?" He says, sipping slowly, amused but disturbed.
"He needs help Damon."
"And why should I help him."
"Because he's your brother, and he's need your help, an-"
"I'm staying right here."
"Damon-"
"Elena." He grins, flicking his fingers against the his glass and watching the bourbon swirl.
"He would do it for you." I breathe, as I feel the pulse of anger thrive through me. I need to find Caroline, or Bonnie, but I need to steer clear of Klaus and so. I slump myself on the Stefan's bed, and let a log sob out.
Not mentally stable, not physically ready.
I dig through anything with a strong scent of blood, using as much of my senses as possible. I make it into the cellar, and find a freezer, stacks and stacks of blood. I slowly breath as I pull the plug from the plastic bag that contains the only thing I need. I lift the bag to my mouth, almost like a straw, I take a long withdrawal of breath, causing blood to go through the straw like plug and into my mouth.
The taste stronger than the animal. The smell unbearably good, the burning is back. The taste lingers in my mouth until the packet is empty, only containing drops of blood. I slam the freezer, a soft breeze flys past me.
"You found his stash."
"His?"
"Stefan's."
"He doesn't-"
"He used to, when he binges, or goes off the rails, whatever you call it. That's his."
"It's so full-"
"Because his animal diet thingy keeps him oddly satisfied." He pulls another out, holding it to me. "Have another."
"I'm fine."
"Oh come on."
"I mean it Damon, I'm strong enough."
"No ones ever strong enough....Take it for him." He tosses me one.
"But he'll-"
"Recover faster." He leaves a blood bag in my hand as he makes his way out of the cellar, me following. I shove it into a jacket pocket for when I walk back to the forest. As paranoid as I am, I speed through the trees till my heart can't beat any faster. I make my way back into the underground concrete hallway, slowly moving down to Stefan's door.
"Who's there?" His voice faint and weak. I pull open the small opening as the bottom. I slide my hands in, along with the blood bag.
"It's me, Stefan?"
"Elena." His voice slightly louder. "I can't." I feel a pushing of the blood bag.
"You have too, you need from be strong. It's okay." It's pulled from my hands almost instantly. "You're getting out today."
His hand locks with mine.
