Borderline - Tove Styrke

"I'm borderline happy and I'm borderline sad."

~

The sound of the engine shutting off woke me up. I had another nightmare, actually it was the exact same one. The same blood, stake, heart beat and dead bodies.
"We're here. I'm going to start unloading the car, help." Katherine swung the car door open and slid out. I let out a deep breathe, she was in a bad mood. I copied her and exited the car. Quickly enough we had unloaded the car and were outside the door. More memories flooded back to me.

The opening of the door, the smiles of our parents turning to scowls, the dead bodies.
"Earth to Elena!" It was Jeremy, he was standing in front of me as Katherine disappeared inside the house.
"Jer!" I squealed, bringing him in for a hug. He was now way taller then me and had cut his hair into a shorter style. "You've grown haven't you." He laughed and moved out of my way.

"Come on in." I obeyed him and stepped into my familiar home.
"Jeremy, how are you doing after all of this?" Putting my arms around him again, he let out a sigh.

"Honestly, Isobel and John weren't really there much since you left. They were always out, hunting down Katherine. I lost all respect for them the minute they tried to kill her. After you guys left the first time, Dad and I had an argument. It got violent and he hit me. So I usually stay at Matt's house now, we've become really close these past four years." We had moved to the sofa as he explained how our absence had treated him.
"I missed you guys so much. It was hard working my way through high school but I'm just glad you're here for my start at college." He put up a strong front but I knew that loosing your parents was hard. But Katherine and I had lost them 4 years ago and when they died, I felt nothing in the form of sadness. Just the same void I'd felt for a long time.
"I know you're hurting, but Katherine and I are back, for you. We always will be." We shared one last hug before Katherine walked in.

"All my stuff is upstairs. Go unpack Elena. I'll stay with little Gilbert. I haven't got anywhere else to be anyway." Katherine's voice became smaller at the last sentence and she gave Jeremy a hug.

This was hard for Katherine. She never really fit in at Mystic Falls. Although she was perfect, no one seemed to appreciate her. Except one guy, Stefan Salvatore. But he was out of her life for good, after the way he hurt her. Katherine wasn't a forgiving girl.

So, when we moved to Beacon Hills she wanted nothing more then a fresh start and she started to lead the most popular group in school, without even trying. She had friends that were like her, that understood her and that loved her. Something she never had in Mystic Falls.
