~ Your POV ~~~>

Darkness.

Darkness envelops me, like a thick blanket that is seizing me, enclosing me, suffocating me. My body feels scattered, and I wish for a sense of being. Collectiveness.

Glimpsing a flash of radiant light, I desperately seek it out, wanting nothing but to escape this timeless space, void of comfort or anything at all.

I cannot feel anything. It's like my throat is closed up, and no matter how many attempts I make, no words sound.

The light draws near, I can tell. Here floats a sphere of white aura, perfectly round. Peering into its surface, I startle a bit as I watch what happened to me play out.

The Homunculi-!

Suddenly, the orb vanishes into the dark, and I'm left alone, with the questions and burdens weighing down my heart.

Panic grasps me immediately. I'm trapped, I'm trapped, my mind constantly chants.

No. I want to be free!

Even with my sense of where I am is largely distorted, I piece together that a light is emanating from where I exist.

Urging it to grow stronger and brighter, I can only hold hope that it will vanquish this unending nightmare.

I want to get out!

And the light illuminates the whole area surrounding me, repelling the shadows with its brightness. My consciousness fades entirely.

~ Edward's POV ~~~>

"Al," I sigh, "remind me why we're all the way out here again?"

It's just me and my brother, Alphonse. Surrounded by rolling hills, towering peaks, and thin streams, it's hard to imagine why would anyone have business this far into the unknown.

"The Colonel said there was a strange meteor that crashed where we are now," his metal voice explains. "The impact was minimal. Evidently, the Führer told Colonel Mustang he wanted us to investigate."

The King of Amestris himself wanted us to go? I can't help but be a little wary.

We keep walking in silence for a few minutes, until I shout, "damn. SO INSTEAD OF GETTING TIME TO RESEARCH WE GET TIME TO GO LOOK AT A ROCK!"

And oh, was I wrong.

Spotting a large dent in the earth up ahead, I point to it, give a little call to Al, and start jogging towards it.

With my Alchemy, I start clearing away some of the rubble inside the crater and the process speeds up when Al joins me.

That's when I saw it. A human hand, small and fair.

My heart skips a beat, then accelerates. "AL! SOMEONE- SOMEONE'S BURIED BENEATH THESE ROCKS!" I work faster, anxious to see the results. "Huh?!" my younger brother exclaims.

And we uncover a girl.

Her body is covered in dirt, scratches, and bruises, but I manage to see what I suppose was originally a white dress. Blood trickles down her left temple.
