The girl was beautiful. Perfect skin, shining eyes. Long, dark hair surrounded her face in thick, messy curls. She had red lipstick to match her dress, and it couldn't have suited her better. Eliza still didn't trust this girl, but she was starting to hate her less. "Is everything okay?" she heard her ask, and realized she had been staring. She tried her best to compose herself. "Yes. Are you Maria Reynolds?" she asked, suddenly gaining a little more confidence. Maria stuttered "Y-yes, that would be me." Eliza tried her best to stay calm. "I'm Eliza Hamilton..Alexander Hamilton's wife, I came to ask about the affair."

Maria's facial expression changed into something more sad and vulnerable. She stuttered again. "It-it wasn't my fault." Worried she'd be charged for the affair, she didn't quite trust Eliza. But she didn't want to get on her bad side. She saw something....comforting in Eliza. A sense of home and safety that she really wasn't familiar with. Eliza looked at her with pity in her eyes "I didn't come to press charges," she said, "I just came to hear your side of the story." Maria paused for a second. Eliza was beautiful. Long brown hair, kind eyes, and a smile that could light up a room. She was starting to trust her a little bit more.

"My..my side of the story?" she said, as nervous as she was before "well, my husband had been abusing me for a while, and one day he just left. I went to Alexander to see if he could help, I know he's a man of honor. But then my husband came back, and he forced me into an affair, thinking he could make a little money off it." Eliza sighed, taking everything in. She was starting to pity Maria, as anyone would someone in that situation. "Well, your story is compelling. I believe you. To be honest, I kind of feel sorry for you. Are you okay? Is there anything I can do?" She hoped she wasn't coming off too desperate, that her real reason for wanting to help wasn't obvious. She wanted to hate Maria, but she couldn't. She was just too beautiful.
