JULY

Chapter 7

It was Saturday the fourth of July. I was sitting on the couch with Khrystal half way through watching 13 going on 30 one of our favorites. We were both wearing our pajamas and our hair in messy buns. I heard the front door close and whistling. I got up going to the bathroom. I stood in the bathroom in till I heard the whistling past the door and go up the stairs. I walked out and joined Khrystal on the couch again.

"Okay what's been going on?" Khrystal asked

"What do you mean?" I asked

"You've been avoiding Tate since we've returned from Busch Gardens and may I say you have been really good at it. But that’s not the point why have you been avoiding Tate?" Khrystal asked again. I bit my lip. How could I avoid the question "Erin?" She said with a suspicious look. Not telling her not telling her. I'm not telling her that her brother kissed me.

"It's nothing just my way of not bickering with Tate. Avoid the problem avoid the fight."

Khrystal gave me a look that she didn't believe me but shrugged it off. When the movie ended we searched the TV guide for something to watch. When out of nowhere the doorbell rang which was odd? No one every rung the doorbell because no one every came to visit the Armstead."Go get it." Khrystal demanded. I looked at her she motioned me to go get the door. "Why it could be Jehovah witnesses?"

Khrystal let out a hugh ugh before getting up. The doorbell rang again."I'm coming." Khrystal yelled. I heard the front door swing open. "Hell-...Erin!" She shouted. I got off the couch and ran to the door. "What?" I asked as I got to the door.  There stood Khrystal mouth wide open. I moved her aside to see who was at the door. "Lydia!" I shouted.

"Erin!" She shouted back. I gave her a hug. "I've missed you." I said. I looked beyond her into the yard to see if there was anyone else. There was only green grass. "Did you come alone?" I asked she nodded her brown curly head.

"Wait how are you here? Do Mom and dad know you're here?" I asked Lydia stepped into the house.

"Well you see...they know I'm in the state they just don't know that I'm visiting you. They think that I'm visiting Hershey Park and then Busch Gardens." She confessed. I looked at her brown eyes and smiled. "When did you become just like me?" I asked she smiled instantly. "Well someone had to replace you when you left."

Lydia, Khrystal and I sat back on the couch and decided to watch Toy Story 3. Halfway through the movie Khrystal put pause. "Are you taking her to the fourth of July dance tonight?" Khrystal asked. I had forgotten about the dance till the then."Yes."Lydia said looking at me."I don't know Lydia do you have a dress?" I asked.

"No but maybe I can borrow one of yours?"  She asked. I looked at her Lydia was about 5 inches smaller then me and a bit skinner then me too."I don't think one of my dresses would fit you."I said looking at Khrystal for help. She looked at Lydia. "I'm pretty sure my mom may still have one of my old Sunday dresses that you can probably fit." Khrystal said to Lydia, Lydia smiled."Really?" Lydia asked Khrystal nodded.
